UE5 & Reallusion Tips & Tricks

Really hope there will be a CC5 character based on metahuman facial blendshapes to use Live Link Face with metahuman setting…

In cc4 extended the blendshapes are almost identical already - we can already use metahuman mode with it. (That’s why my plugin works) The thing I hope they fix in cc5 is that combining Blendshapes breaks the face. What I mean is, if certain Blendshapes are maximized at the same time you get mesh breakage. Metahumans are built to never break - you can have all of their Blendshapes set to max at same time. That’s why my plugin has lots of math to stop the cc face breaking when you add metahuman animator animation in iClone.

Thank you Toby . However, you need to use UDK to process the data and be able to import it via your plugin into Iclone, right?

Have you tried using livelinkface with metahuman mode? It doesn’t create any animation data. I think you and a few others think it does, maybe. But unfortunately it just records video and a backup depth track that it doesn’t even use. So the real “magic” of metahuman animator is the processing inside unreal. It makes you generate a 3d version of your face (from the video), then it tracks your video to make the animation.

A few people have been asking for a “direct way” to take metahuman animator mode recordings from their phone into iClone and apply it to cc4 characters etc etc, but they don’t understand - there will never be a direct or “better” way, because there’s no animation data recorded by your phone, when it’s in metahuman animator mode. It’s all about tracking the video inside unreal. Does that make sense?

Oh!!! Now I understand  Effectively I saw yesterday that the metaHuman mode of the face link doesn’t record animation data… Thank you Toby

On an another subject I just tried out the mocopi pro for body mocap and it’s very good for the price. I will make a little review soon

And will there be deliveries to Europe of mocopi?

I live in Canada and Sony doesn’t sell outside US and Japan. However Sony point me out this seller : https://www.bhphotovideo.com/ wich sell in canada.

What is your opinion on mocopi? Is it better than Rokoko?

Jae did test the updated mocopi 2 weeks ago …

First look : CC5

From what I see, there isn’t much difference between mocopi and rokoko. The advantage of mocopi is the price, but only for the USA. For Europe, with shipping, customs and fees, it is equal to the price of rokoko.

I’ve never had any usable results with Rokoko (feet slidding, body moving erratically), the hardware is fragile. It’s also difficult to implement with Wi-Fi.
Mocopi is easy to connect and the hardware is robust. If you use an iPhone that you carry with you to record, you’re not limited by connection distances. Mocopi Pro is precise and requires very little cleaning. But I understand that the price is a problem du to the shipping outside US…
The only thing that might hinder its use is that Mocopi Pro requires a subscription to download the recordings. Not Mocopi.

Can the XYN Motion Studio software for the pro version be used in Europe, because the company’s website says, XYN Motion Studio for US!

You can try . The app is free. In my case I have to go in the microsoft store because I’m on windows even I live in canada.

Can you do some tests so I can see the quality of the animation?
