It’s August 27th. Don’t tell me you delayed it.This money is burning a hole in my pocket and I’ve got a birthday coupon to use. Want to have it ready to download when I get home.
Reallusion Head Offices are in Taipei, Taiwan and it is 10:30pm there as of this posting - 4:30pm CEST.
Just saw some updates get pushed and got excited. But it was CC 4.6 and Headshot 2.02. haha We won’t have to wait too much longer though.
Yeah. I need to get the headshot 2 plugin as well. I’ll hand the CC4 license off to kiddo, to upgrade him from 3 as soon as I get to buy CC5.
Anyone know what’s going on with CC5 release?
For all the anxious ones, the manual is already online: https://manual.reallusion.com/Character-Creator-5/Content/ENU/5.0/01_Welcome/Welcome.htm
At the time of writing CC5 is still due today (27th). If anything changes regarding the release I’ll be sure to let everyone know.
It’s definitely a late night for the guys in Taipei.
same for me my birthday is in august i got my 40 % coupon if CC5 will launch after 31 august ( coupon finish on 31 august ) will you re- send us a new -40 % coupon ?
i live in france and without coupon i will not buy CC5 cause to VAT my country is a thieft and should die for it ^^
Thanks! Will keep me busy during work.
I really like Reallusion’s 3D software, but they need a better coms/marketing team. CC5 looks super powerful, this last month should have been nearly daily videos of the upgrades it has over CC4 and the large amount of new pipelines (meta human rig) and pipeline updates (Blender, Zbrush higher topology).
These should all be no brainer videos to put out to expand your audience/push the upgrade path for existing customers.
Unless… of course, this isn’t releasing today, at which case, you might be holding that content until you’re actually in the run-up to release.
Or! maybe there aren’t days worth of upgrades to show off?
I’m really not trying to come off as a huge nay-sayer, but I don’t understand why people think CC5 is a huge upgrade. They’re literally selling you things that CC4 already does. Sure, they’re packaging cool pluses and QoL stuff (normal map baking, new morphs that take advantage of subdivision), but it’s not really new. CC4 has subdivision, CC4 characters can use all of the maps they’re adding into CC4 once you get them into other software (which is likely the goal since CC4 itself doesn’t have an endgoal).
At this point, the only things that would really sell this for me is if they upgraded the Transformer tool to bring in the Daz HD characters, but it doesn’t look like that’s the case at all (the section of the Transformer tool in the CC5 manual is a copy and paste from the CC3 pages…)
The eyelash system looks pretty cool, though
I also wish CC would allow Transformer import of Daz HD characters, but I feel like if that was possible it would have been done by now?
Unfortunately, I have to agree.
It feels like a rushed release, since iClone also won’t follow the change.
I was expecting a bigger leap, just like it was from CC3 to CC4.
All the current new features sound more like updates for CC4, rather than a full version upgrade.
Even so, I’ll buy it and I hope that the next updates add some really cool things, such as:
- Better compatibility with external characters.
- Conversion of the character’s body included in Headshot.
- Direct export to Metahuman DNA format.
- Improved sculpting and weight-painting tools.
me i want CC character with a lot more polygon because in CC3 / 4 when you export your character into Zbrush you have only 13.000 polycount, if you modifie the shape too much like 13.000 to 18.000 it dont work and the result you create :
an item , i want CC4 character with double polycount plz 26.000 or 30.000 for making nice body shape and add details !
For me, it’s the updated textures and better integration with Unreal Engine, which I use exclusively for game and video projects. CC and iC are just tools for character creation and animation. I made the mistake of buying popcorn fx amd the iRay renderer during the cc3/iC7 days. With this new AI renderer, iC might be good for video rendering, but it’s nowhere close to what I can do in UE. Especially with vfx.
yes i-ray buying was a mistake for me too… lot of money for nothing.
Just wrap your character and project it on to a higher level subdivision.
Yeah, reallusion would make come serious headway, if they integrated Niagara effects to iC or had an importer. The lack of vfx tools for iClone make it problematic as a render engine. Not a fan of Omniverse.
I’m upgrading from CC3 (which I haven’t used in years frankly, been using Daz primarily) so CC5 seems like a pretty substantial quality upgrade to me compared to CC3 and even CC4 with ActorMixer Pro, let alone any comparison to Daz it blows that out of the water.
I just wish iClone and CC were merged into a single software but I digress.
