Well its July any CC5 updates?

With CC5 coming later this month I was wondering if there would be anymore early info being dropped on CC5 or the packages that will be released along side of it. Looking forward to its release.

My body is ready, release the CC5!

Hi I can’t find any information of this. When is it mean to be released?

There were announcements in this forum that it was tentatively scheduled for July, 2025.

For example here: https://discussions.reallusion.com/t/character-creator-5-cc5-pre-launch-offer-live-now/

I’m probably going to be heckled by this but… Patience is a virtue. I’ve been using CC since it first came out. With each preview new upgrade preview since then, I’ve sat on "pins & needles anticipating their release. But I’ve found that, “a watched pot never boils.”

Then, one day, 'BINGO!" I get this notice that I can now download my upgrade version of CCX or ICX.

For me, these are the types of surprises I like…knowing that something is indeed coming…but not knowing when. Perhaps I’m a bit weird in that respect. :slightly_smiling_face:

Personally I like knowing when it’s gonna be released but also what it’s releasing with. Often they release a bunch of packs at the same time for better looking models or more Customizability. These end up being extra costs. So I just like to know how much I need to save up to get the program and it’s extra content. So that I have the cash ready to get the most out of it.

RL has learned from experience that giving an exact release date is a bad idea. For example, if they say July 15, and that day passes, people start screaming hysterically on July 16. I’ve seen it happen and it’s not pretty. July has 31 days and that’s all the information you’ll get. Also note that it says “tentatively”, so it may go past that date if something onforeseen comes up during testing.

Well , when I bought it the offer didn’t say “tentatively” really, it just says that on the forums. If they are advertising a product and says “get in July” then is normal to ask and expect it in the beginning of July. It is the first time in my life I preorder something and then I founded out there is not an actual date by your comment. If the software is not ready to be released then it shouldn’t be ready to make money out of it, simple.

But is it technically a preorder? It’s more like you bought something else and got that instantly. As a bonus you’ll get CC5 when it releases.

I’m not sure why you would think it would release at the beginning of July. That’s the whole point of stating July rather than giving a specific date. If we were certain of the date we would have stated it initially.

As an example of this kind of advertising, you now see many games or applications being listed as coming in 2026. I don’t think anyone realistically thinks that 2026 means the 1st January. If it says 2026 it means at any time in 2026 just as July means any time in July.

So to clarify, Character Creator 5 is still scheduled for release in July and there are still 27 days of July left at the time of writing.

Hi Pete, thanks for this reply. But since time is money in a professional production workflow, it’s helpful for a team to know the approximate release date of the software. So, yes, for me too, it’s normal as a Reallusion client to know if the CC5 release is in early July or late July. Here, the team is a bit at a standstill waiting for CC5. These are also very expensive software programs, not the $70 games expected by drugstores buyers. You understand this for sure.
Thank you again
Best regards
by an other “too impatient” client

I wouldn’t halt production only because you’re waiting on a future software release. What will you do if they find a critical bug which takes more time to iron out? A simple Windows or GPU driver update could cause problems which cannot be solved in July.

We don’t know if we’ll be forced to upgrade from CC4 to CC5. So your answer is a bit odd. Because if CC4 is no longer accessible with CC5, our production will have to deal with the bugs anyway…
At this time, our production is still running with CC4 and iclone8 with the work done with CC4. But the evolution coming with CC5 make us wait for some important parts of our movie. It is still our choice. No?
It is an artistic choice, not a technical one. We are knowing why. And, more important, at first my response to Pete was just: “About the right to ask for a more precise release date and the logic of asking for it as a Reallusion customer”. Just an interesting question as a production planner.

You’ll not be forced to use CC5.

CC4 will be still accessible.

Ok thank you, but it was not the subject of the release question. Best regards and have a nice weekend.

I’m totally ok with floating release but I have a project in the end of July and only one thing that makes me thrilled: will I be able to play with new tech and deliver something advanced or I need to drop this idea and go with what have now =) Play safe or bladerun?

I totally agree!

Hi Scalle

Of course in an ideal world we would be able to give specific dates, and if we couldn’t meet that date, everyone would be understanding. Only that never happens so we have to be very careful when giving specific dates or even short time frames.

CC5 is now in the final stages of development and testing, but it only takes a last minute defect to be found during testing and it could delay the release by days or even longer.

So sadly at the moment I can only reiterate that July is still the scheduled release time frame, but I unfortunately can’t narrow it down any more than that.

Usually you guys release a few packs with Character Creators to get the most out of them. For example Realistic Human Skin. Can we find out what packs are coming out with CC5 before release and how much they cost?

Can you use CC5 once it’s ready, if you don’t have CC4? Or do you need to buy CC4 so you can then upgrade to CC5?
