Transferring animations directly between the programs with the buttons does not work in the current version. And the “send motion to character creator” via the collect clip in the timeline also stopped working.
I only get the error:
“To edit CC characters, you need to install the Character Creator first”
Even though CC is open with a character ready.
My workaround is to save the motion of motion plus in the timeline and open it in CC. This works, but is quite annoying as it takes much longer than usual.
Also: am I the only one getting A LOT of errors when trying to export FBX?
I wish I could roll back to the previous version. v8.6 and v4.6 have been an absolute pain for me. So many bugs.
Unfortunately this is a bug which will be fixed as soon as possible. For now, you can save your character in Content Manager and then open it afterwards in either iClone 8.6 or CC 4.6.

If you really wish to roll back to the previous versions, you can do so using the links provided HERE.
However, this will require you uninstalling both your current versions so you may prefer to wait for the fix which will hopefully not take too long.

Downgrading fixed it. It also fixed my biggest problem which was constant error when exporting .fbx files, making it impossible to export game base characters and animations and certain smart materials not being found in the explorer.
Hi Pete i have a big problem nothing worked in the iclone 8.6 went back to iclone 8.42 now can’t open any of my files…like 2 years worth of a feature film
cheers sally
Hi Sally
I’m not sure what you mean by nothing worked in iClone 8.6. Please can you explain more about this.
The issue with sending characters between CC 4.6 and iClone 8.6 is unfortunately a bug. The dev team are aware and working on a fix at the moment.
Regarding not being able to open files, once files have been saved in a newer version then they can no longer be opened in an older version. This has always been the case.
So for example, if you saved certain files in 8.6 then you won’t be able to open them in 8.42. However, if you update again to 8.6 the files should then be able to be opened.
Alternatively if you have backups of the files (which is always recommended) then you can use those in 8.42.
Thanks Pete, wow what a night haha…thank you it is all good now…not sure what happened but i unistalled and reinstalled and it all works great…the only thing i would say you know the time tab at the bottom shame they did not keep that the same before, as i played back in frame, this gave it a bad replay…but now in time…all good…thank you… sally
