[OFFICIAL] Character Creator 4.6 Issues Thread

Dear Character Creator Users,

Character Creator 4.6 is now available. However, as with all updates there may still be a few bugs, glitches or other annoying issues that remain.

Important: If you do find any bugs, issues or glitches in Character Creator 4.6, please can you report them first in the Feedback Tracker. Then feel free to discuss the issues in this thread but do try to include a link back to the original Feedback Tracker report or your tracker number.

As always it will help us greatly if we can keep all technical issues in the one place (this thread). This will help the development team keep track of any problems.

Please do try to provide your full system specifications and a detailed description of the problem when reporting issues and include screenshots and/or a workflow video whenever possible. If you can provide specific steps so we can try and reproduce the problem that will be even better.

I am pleasantly surprised to learn that RL continued working on CC4 despite CC5 :+1:

After the new update to the latest version of CC4 v4.6 none of the created files, up until today, won’t open. It just crashes at ’ Process to Render’ Everything worked fine before updating this morning.

Already made a ticket in the feedback tracker.

Edit: After downgrading to the previous version everything is working as intended. Phew

Kiddo pointed it out to me last night, but the Bake High Poly Maps function is borked. I installed 4 on his laptop yesterday and he went to paint some daz characters he created and when he loaded them up in Substance Painter, the arms and fingers of the model export were all jacked up. I tested 5 and the exact same issue appears. Only CC3 exports the mesh correctly. I’m heading to work but I’ll have Kiddo take screens and I’ll post them to the dev tracker this afternoon. Should I do a ticket for both 4 and 5?

How easy was it to downgrade?I installed the 4.6 updates in the middle of a project and its completely shut me down. Did you just uninstall 4.6 and use the last 4.5 to reinstall? Hope you don’t mind my asking and thanks for any info/

I did this the day after I upgraded to 4.6 because of all the bugs. It was pretty quick and easy. And now everything works again.
Just uninstall the app through the hub. Close the hub and install these files (If you also got iClone):
iClone 8.54: https://file.reallusion.com/IC854_Enu.exe
Character Creator 4.54: https://file.reallusion.com/ic/Character_Creator_454_Enu_Full.exe
Then restart Hub and it should now say 4.54
BUT anything you made in 4.6 will be broken (unless you clicked yes on the make backup file button)!

Thanks for the reply. Fortunately I was just in the middle of using Zbrush to create expressions, and the update broke the pipeline. I almost upgraded to 5 until I found out it has the same issues. The Blender tools plugin is also broken on my system. It’s a mess. This will get me back to work. Appreciate it.

I updated to CC4.6. It opens and closes. It stopped working.

I just noticed that I can’t load any of the basic acting rigs now that I have upgraded to CC 4.6. Male, Female, Toon, and Neutral no longer work, a pop up window citing some CC 5 nonsense appears and then I am left with hitting OK or More to find out that a lot of other things are no longer functioning properly. I make sure to update my products like a good little consumer regularly, so this is troubling to me. Is anyone doing anything to fix this or are we simply being guided down the path to being forced to purchase CC5?

To be able to offer any guidance it’s important to know what the error message says. Can you please either post a screenshot of the error message or write it down so we can understand what’s going on. Thanks.

I tried uploading a shot of the pop-up window here but it won’t let me attach it to a reply.
“Failed to load the content containing CC5 enhanced data. Please try again with Character Creator 5. Click “More” for details.”
I did reply in the Feedback Tracker, and the number for that 12179.
Any information would be appreciated.

Transformer DAZ to CC 4.6 and also CC5 imports Accessories as Shapes and Shapes can’t be moved or Modified

I use the Transformer to import DAZ clothing and accessories frequently. With CC4.6 and CC5 when I ask the transformer to import an item as an Accessory, the transformer instead imports the item as a .Shape which means that I can’t move, rotate or Modify it.

I tested this with an fbx that the Transformer imported an accessory successfully in CC4.5, but will not successfully import in CC4.6 or CC5.

Importing the objects as Cloth is not a good option for many of them because the body causes the mesh to deform in ways that are very hard to fix.

Please change this back to the way CC4.5 and previous versions worked so that I can move my accessories around and / or Modify them into Cloth.

In the forums, others are having troubles with accessories as well

I used to use a different method importing DAZ accessories. I have not tested it much lately with G9, but in nutshell I import accessory as Type: Hair,Brows,Beard and Layer: Hair Base.

This method is better than importing as an Accessory, because it does not dump all accessories to the root, but instead places them to the correct location “almost” perfectly. And it does not deform the mesh either.

I just test re-imported DAZ Cyborg parented to G8 Male.

Here I only selected 4 parts as Hair and the rest as Accessories

After importing, I have applied a DAZ A-pose (converted from the fame FBX) and my imported Hair items fell in place just fine (unlike the rest which are currently Shapes due to a bug and on top of that dumped to root).
Finally I selected all 4 Hair items, converted to accessories and attached to the respective bones.

Last night I reinstalled CC3 and was able to import as accessory and it was actually an accessory, then move it to CC5.

Character Creator 4.61 has now been released which fixes a number of issues reported with the 4.6 release. Please update using the Hub.

Thank you, thank you. I was earllier experimenting with AI rendering but after updating CC4 and Iclone I’ve lost all the installation of AI render. But now setting it back to previous versions I got it all back. I’ve learned my lesson (I hope) and don’t install carelessy any ‘update’ :cold_sweat:

CC4 4.61 BUG: Export->FBX->Clothed Character: [X] InstaLOD
Export once, ok, export again, now export options have changed by them self, Delete Hidden Faces is unckecked (still gray) and all faces are exported.

Character Creator v4.62 (4.62.4523.1) has now been released (Sep. 24th, 2025)

CC4 4.62
