NIGHMARE: "Base content required for full functionality"

Every time I put one of my characters up for sale on the marketplace,
the nightmare list appears.

A list of ‘Base content required for full functionality’ appears, which would discourage any customer.

First of all, I wonder what’s the point of buying
content if you can’t use it to build a character to sell.

Secondly, I only use morph sliders that are included
in the basic content manager, so they’re free for me and for the customer. But no, when you follow the link for the basic components for full functionality, you see packs that you have to pay for.

It’s really frustrating.

Hi…

This concept is referred to as “Derivative content.”

The key point is that if you used someone else’s base character to create your own version, it isn’t entirely yours to sell. With derivative content, customers should first purchase the base product before using your customized version. This ensures fairness and compensates the original creator.

The best solution, of course, is to create everything from scratch. That way, you can sell without restrictions, knowing it’s entirely your own work.

Let’s talk about morph sliders: I would like to know if there is a way to distinguish the “native” ones,
i.e. those belonging to Character Creator’s base morphs, from morphs created by other artists. So far, I have recognised the “non-native” ones by the fact that they have a green slider circle instead of a white one.
Now, for example, ‘neck scale’ is a native morph slider with a white circle.
But it’s a morph that appears in the list
of components needed for full functionality.
So I realised that I can’t even trust
the morph sliders with white circles.
How can I distinguish between them?
Is there a “batch” way to list the “third-party” morphs used by my character before publishing?

Hi…

If you only use only the morph sliders that come with Character Creator/iClone, then you should not run into any digital rights issues regarding customization and reselling.

However, if you use any morph sliders that come from paid content packs, then the derivative content requirements will be applied and customers will need to own those morph sliders to be able to use your customized content.

Please Note: You can check at any time which morphs have been applied to a character by selecting the Currently Used option under the Morphs tab of the Modify Panel.

So basically if you don’t wish to run into derivative content issues, it is best to just use the embedded morphs that come with Character Creator/iClone.

I don’t know, it must be my version of cc4,
“Currently Used” unfortunately only shows the morph sliders I created myself.

Don’t use the morphs with sliders that are colored green.

Thanks, i know. It seems that this is not enough, sometimes.
