@animagic yes they’re cousins, mine is R12 RTX 3080ti i9 12th gen with 32gb RAM… So you said the capsule design of this Alienware generation and its sloping build might be the reason behind its need for air cooling (indespite it is liquid cooled).
I do trust Dell desktops, before my actual PC i got an XPS 8700 that I learned and experimented all 3Ds including iClone 5 till 8 !!! With just that GeForce 730 !!!
I have a Legion 5i - 17. RTX 2060.
It runs smoothly and without crashes. I think the RTX 4090 is great and will run smoothly. No problem, you can buy it.
As for cooling, the Legion 5 is better.
@sungod can you please clarify the $30 is a cost of what?! And how much does it cost to make a PC build with RTX4090 and i9 14th gen?. Thank
@Kakabrasil have you ever tested another laptops not from Lenovo so as you decided Legion is good. I oftenly see positive reputations about this laptop, almost every body recommend it on Reddit and YouTube.
That is labour cost approximately for the biggest importer to assemble the PC.
It is not cost of components but the labour to assemble it.
Thus getting custom components is also a good idea.
But ofcourse if someone required hardware support etc then i would also recommend Dell Desktop Alienware with extended warranty which includes hardware and home service.
Edit for me , custom cooling is most important.
Thank you @sungod i have Alienware and it is an airplane not just a computer, it is so hungry for electricity.
Lenovo with the Legion 5 went head to head with everyone and stood out. There is no better cooling than the Legion 5. They are lacking in the screen and should improve, but the rest is good. Three types of speed, and the maximum is very quiet. Lenovo put all the good stuff inside a single machine, the Legion 5.
Yes, I had the Dell, Toshiba and Alienware, but the Legion made all the difference and surpassed both graphic work and games.
No but couldn’t hurt?
@Kakabrasil thank you so much for the review, i was thinking of an Alienware R18 laptop deal on Dell’s website but after reading your comment and reading dozens of reviews that hailed Lenovo Legion, I think am gonna buy it and get rid of my huge machine (Alienware desktop with RTX3080ti).
@hansagan might be!
5i must be PRO or 7i with 32G memory.
It runs everything. Even Blender and Maya run smoothly. Imagine iclone8.
Success and good luck.
I don’t want to be contrarian, but the previous comments regarding the difference between desktops and laptop still stand. Unless you only want to work with relatively small scenes, an 8GB GPU will not be sufficient. Anyway, whatever you do, insist on Windows 11 Pro. Stay away from Home at all costs if you want to maintain some control over your PC.
@Kakabrasil thank you so much for the links, the Legion 7 is interesting in its high end specifications
@animagic animagic thank you for the advice on Windows 11 Pro, most of laptops I saw are with Windows Home Edition and you just saved my life.
