iClone 8.6 Has Arrived - Packed with CC5 Compatibility Updates

This update brings better compatibility with the newly launched Character Creator 5, including MetaHuman facial animation import, CC5 HD support, and Extended-Plus profiles. New eye shaders, Unreal 5 and Marmoset export presets, and timeline and Motion LIVE improvements enhance control and realism. Also includes optimized file compression and key bug fixes for a smoother workflow.

Added:

General

  • New File > Import MetaHuman Facial Animation function (requires the installation of CC5).

  • Now supports CC5 HD characters and facial profiles (requires the installation of CC5).

  • Now compatible with CC3+ Extended-Plus characters (requires the installation of CC5). Extended-Plus profiles are meant for Extended characters that use CC5 corrective shapes.

Eye Elements

  • New Digital Human_Occlusion (HD) shader for smoother blending between the eyeball and eye socket, creating a subtle fade effect that removes hard edges and prevents visible mesh intersections.

  • New Digital Human_Tearline (HD) shader to match the updated model and UV layout.

Character

  • New subdivision level for already subdivided CC5 characters.

Timeline

  • New Facial Parts Strength option in the context menu for quick strengthening of regional expressions.

Export FBX

  • New preset for Marmoset Toolbag.

  • New preset for Tear Ducts UV adjustment for Marmoset Toolbag, with the inclusion of other Game Engine presets.

  • New Unreal (UE5 Skeleton) preset. The existing Unreal preset is renamed Unreal (UE4 Skeleton).

  • New Unreal 5 (Mannequin) and UEFN options under Export FBX > Advanced Settings > Add Reference Pose.

  • New Unreal 5 Mannequin profile for characterizing and FBX motion import.

Preference

  • New Dynamic Mipmap option in Real-time Render settings for reducing noise when using high-detail textures with General Wrinkles (Live).

Motion LIVE

  • Non-linear Curve support for characters that have corrective expressions in their facial profiles. This includes CC5 HD and CC3+ Extended-Plus profiles.

  • Better compatibility with Character Creator 5 (see FAQ for details).

  • Optimized file compression for mesh data and animation, reducing project file size without affecting loading performance (iProject remains uncompressed).

Eye Elements

  • Modify > Add Eye Elements > Eye Occlusion: Improved model design for tighter fitting around the eye socket.

  • Modify > Add Eye Elements > Tear Line: Adjusted model and UV layout for better specular highlighting.

Fixed:

General

  • iClone no longer crashes when certain characters are imported. Feedback Tracker

Export FBX

Motion Editing

  • Certain operations with the Edit Motion Layer and Motion Direction Control no longer causes the character to move forward perpetually.

  • Project sizes no longer increases with each application of the Flatten All Layers command. Feedback Tracker

Render Video

  • Removed uncompressed rendering with Render Video > AVI Export. Feedback Tracker

  • Images no longer render with mosaic patterns when the Performance > Enable DLSS is enabled. Feedback Tracker

Would I have to reinstall AI plugin for IC8.6/CC4.6?
Or there will be another beta specifically for new versions?

I am asking because AI plug-in is gone after IC/CC upgrade…
(maybe for better… as I’m glued to IC trying to render everything I have created over the years :nerd_face:)

after the update to the last 8.6 iclone and cc 4.6 …Can’t export iclone character to cc4 for edit…if this is a joke is not fun
