I just saw an add for Character Creator 5

I am not certain you need an entirely new base “character standard” if the new “mesh detail” is the result of some new uber subdivision system similar to Daz’s “HD” morphs

You won’t need to start from scratch. The new HD features of CC5 can be applied to existing CC3+ characters.

However there would need to be changes in the rigging/weighting to get better body joint deformations( JCM’s)
This would very likely break compatibility with existing conforming clothing sets that already work in Iclone.

Thank you! (and huge relief for me =)

Thank you!!! Great
Cheers

If we’re lucky, one Euro is worth two Dollars by the end of June. Then it’s a 100 Euro upgrade for us.

haha that’s some dark humor rite there

Greetings to everyone - I have been away for a long time and still only have CC3 and Iclone7.

The upgrade opportunity is enticing. In my case it appears that I can upgrade to Iclone 8 and qualify for CC5 free.

I bought a morphs (and skin?) pack to enhance CC3 and cannot see it anywhere present in my up-to-date Reallusion Hub. There is a CC3 Pipeline Extension, however. Maybe I’ve mixed them up?

Anyway my question is whether the upgrade from CC3 to CC5 would mean having to re-purchase the Morph pack?

Thanks for any reply. I did see that plugins fromm CC4 will continue to work.

Hi Grimhilda. Nice to see that you made it here.

Detailed answers to your question should come from Peter (RL). But I can tell you few things.

The CC3 Pipeline Extension was aimed at enhancing the basic CC3 feature set (which I believe was included free with iClone 7). Since CC4 there is only one version with a full feature set.

The Morph and Skin pack needed to be purchased. At the time, when CC4 came out, there were free upgrades for plugins but I don’t know about that pack.

With CC5 coming there will again be free upgrades of plugins and other content is compatible.

Yours is a special case so I don’t know what would be free for you. Again Peter (RL) may be able to help.

Hi…

Any content packs you have already purchased will still be available to install in CC5. You won’t have to purchase content packs again.

You can check which content you have purchased in your Order History or your Marketplace Inventory.

Thanks, Animagic, for being friendly, helpful and well-informed as always.

Life’s pressures (which no-one is exempt from), financial considerations and a perpetual drifting of interests to other things meant that Iclone fell by the wayside for me. But I still love the idea of getting to grips with it again.

Thanks again - I still have time to decide. Without wishing to go off topic in this thread, I saw elsewhere some remarkably well-done motion capture with a relatively inexpensive system. Today’s possibilities seem endless…

Thank you Peter for your helpful reply which was good to hear.

Best regards.

HD expression profiles and non-linear facial animation with advanced curve-based controls does this new functions work own meshes like the wolf/horse face or is it only for the new human cc5 mesh. The cc4 extended profile works great with own meshes if you dont have to many face bone joints, it will be very intressting if advanced curve-based controls works with own meshes.
thanks for improving the software .

I think it may transfer over with some iclone 8 updates… But I would highly suggest learning unreal engine… Im a former game designer, environment artist and 3d modeler, and I can honestly say that working with cc4, iclone 8 and unreal engine 5 you will have much better renders and animated shorts… there are a ton of very helpful tutorials and you can go full specialization mode. if you are not currently using it. I would suggest the following:
unreal engine installation and navigation (generic search terms btw)
setting up environments using marketplace assets (of which there are tons of free assets in the marketplace)
get a basic understanding of “filmmaking in unreal engine” people like josh toonen have great tutorials. as well as Brian Faucher
then learn sequencer.
I am currently developing a sci fi animated series and I have a couple videos on my channel @kreativemotionsstudio
I would be more than happy to share any knowledge I have from the past 10 years and getting you up and running on UE 5.

Finally, I decided to use the offer to get CC5, and I bought my items yesterday. Nowadays, I still have some doubts about this program. For instance, as it is not going to be a new iClone version this time, does that mean that the users of CC4 are not going to be receiving new updates of iClone, or may this be compatible with both CC4 and CC5? It is clear to me that plugins will be freely updated; what about the performance of the animations in iClone? I understand that one of the improvements in CC5 is related to the mesh, with more subdivision levels. Does it mean that the animations will require more resources? With more complexity, generally, you need to upgrade your hardware to improve the performance. Something similar happened to me when working with iClone 7. When I started working with this program, the performance was stupendous; however, as new features appeared, the system was getting slower. Today, I have an RTX 3070; which hardware do you recommend for this new CC5?

@amtenorio2000 - CC4 will still be usable with iClone 8 after CC5 releases. Obviously though, CC5 specific new features will not be compatible with CC4.

The system requirements for CC5 have not yet been finalised but an RTX 3070 should give good performance levels with CC5.
