When does Character Creator 5 come out? Seems to be a shorter product lifecycle for CC4 than earlier versions. I hope the upgrade price is cheap.
It’s coming in July, according to the advert. I think full price was $399. No mention of the upgrade price, if any. And yeah, with the world plummeting towards a global recession, now wouldn’t be the time to be overpricing the upgrade. Fingers crossed.
From what I’ve seen I believe full price will be 299$…
Waiting now to see how much will be the upgrade, + plugins or addons for textures…
So excited!!
Definetely buying or subscribing
I think it’s probably the best deal if you have some stuff from the content store on your wishlist. Add that up to over $399 to get CC5 for “free”.
That’s $100 or $170 more than only buying CC5 but then you also have content which makes it more affordable than buying software and content separately.
I just bought CC4 2 weeks ago. Ugh. July you say? But $229 is steep when I just paid more than that in late march.
What new features are worth paying again?
The facial quality looks excellent.
Will it look this good in ICLONE 8 or is ICLONE 9 coming out? OR do we have to transfer it to another renderer like unreal 5 to get these results?
I asked in the comments section of their youtube reveal, they said rendered in Iclone but not
which version
Reach out to support. They are preety flexible. Maybe they will refund your money for CC4 or let you apply that to the promo, then you just need to pay the difference between $399 and whatever you paid for CC4.
I love new stuff, but I really want to see the upgrade price and I want a full list of differences. I like the enchanced resolution, but I need a little more for $299.
@AutoDidact - There will be an update to iClone 8 to make it compatible with all the new features of CC5. It won’t be iClone 9 though.
Upgrade price for CC4 users is $229.
Cool!!
Big thank you to the RL team for the improved shader support coming in CC5 for Maya’s Arnold engine
That is good and bad.
Good new is, that we do not need to buy an iClone to work with CC5 I assume.
But that also means, once CC5 is installed (and iClone upgraded), CC4 can no longer be used (like I still have all paired versions of CC/iClone)
Ok Thank you Peter for the info. However, will the new features mentioned on the CC5 page, such as High-end Displacement Rendering, be made available in Iclone 8 ? And what intrigues me even more is that facial motion capture seems to be made in CC5…
I really can’t wait to see the next previews…
looks good. I really love facial expressions, it’s so important in bringing the characters to life. The current CC3+ ‘enhanced’ characters have come a long way now, at least I can make them smile now without them looking creepy!
So really keen on the new ‘sticky’ expression ability in CC5, it will help make those expressions even more lifelike. And there is still some work need on detail of mouth movements, like biting the bottom lip still doesn’t look right, so hopefully some more improvements to come in CC5.
To honest, overall I’m very happy with the current gen of avatars, they faces are quite realistic. But one of the obvious things I’d like to see is more realism of the skin when arms and legs bend at the joins. You’ve got these fairly realistic looking faces, let down by skin folding at the joins of the limbs looking like a bent straw.
That really doesn’t feel great. I just bought CC4 a week ago when it was on sale for $199. I even looked for any news about CC5 before purchasing, just to be safe, but found nothing. you think they might offer a refund?
