No, that wasn’t it.
Later, I looked at the table and peeked underneath it, just to see how it looked. I wasn’t doing anything with the lamp anymore, but I found the lamp there! I moved it up to place it on the table, and it disappeared again! For a moment, I felt like iClone was teasing me, haha. But it’s not a big deal. I’ll just leave the problem for now and figure it out later.
I had a fun idea, though. In future videos with the same background, I’d like to move the pillows around on the sofa. Just a small, subtle touch to make it feel like someone actually lives there. Easy to do, but kind of fun!
There are magazines on the table now, and in the future, I want to move them to the sofa, like someone left a mess. One difficulty: a cup and saucer somehow got stuck to them. That wasn’t how it was originally, but I’ll figure that out later too.
What do you think of the idea? So, just making some minor touches in the room to give the impression that someone lives there. It has nothing to do with animation, and it’s subtle, but I think it adds a bit of charm!
That’s always a great idea. I typically build a set from scratch but if I start with a “pre-built” set I always, as time permits, try to modify it in big or small ways. Kinda make it mine.
But I would really like to figure out that lamp issue…that’s weird. Now you know about “attaching” and “linking”. Real important. If you right-click on a object a menu will appear and if you hover over 'Attach" or “Link” you can see if something is attached or linked and then you could un-attach or un-link an object from another which might help in moving things around.
That’s one of the things I like about iClone. You can express yourself in so many different ways! It’s like being a director, animator, interior designer, and architect all at once. If you like building sets from scratch, maybe there’s a secret architect hiding in you! Are you using Character Creator for that?
I came across this pre-made interior I absolutely love (it even includes a beautiful bedroom I plan to use in the future), and I’m totally happy with it. Which is just as well, because my content library doesn’t offer much variety—many folders even show up as empty.
As for the lamp: since Camilla’s standing right in front of it, you can’t really see it anyway, so it’s not a priority right now. I’m focusing on tweaking Camilla first. Once everything else is set, I’ll circle back and deal with that lamp.
And the magazine and cup and saucer seem to belong together. The “Attach” and “Link” options didn’t work to separate them. I thought I had moved the cup and saucer on their own, but then I saw in an old project that they were grouped in the same spot there too. The object is called Magazine_C—maybe as in Magazine_Cup and saucer.
You are amazing! It worked!!! Thank you very much. Now that the lamp is on the table, I can even see it in the background behind Camilla, and it looks nice!
I’ve encountered another frustrating problem I just can’t fix. I’ve been at it for a while now but I can’t find the solution.
Whenever I tweak something in the scene—like adjusting Camilla’s position or even just zooming out—it gets recorded. That’s not what I want. I managed to stop the Camilla motion by using Animation > Remove Scene Animation > Keep First Frame, which worked… this time.
But the lamp in the background is another story. It keeps stubbornly moving downward when I play the scene. I’ve searched, tested, and tweaked, but nothing helps. There are no visible keyframes on the lamp, and using Remove Object Animation or Remove Vertex Animation via right-click doesn’t stop it.
That is part of the iClone “philosophy”, so it is somewhat “dangerous” to changes things you don’t want to animate at any frame except 0.
However, zooming should only be “recorded” if you have added a camera and that one is active.
With regard to the lamp: If you already tried “Remove Object Animation” you may want to check if the lamp is “attached” to anything else that is animated, meaning any keyframes would not be on the lamp itself but on the object the lamp is connected, attached, or subordinate to.
