🚀 Headshot 3 is Coming: Pre-launch Offer Live Now!

Hi Everyone,

We’re excited to introduce the latest updates to the upcoming Headshot3 plugin for Character Creator 5.

To significantly improve the accuracy of 3D head creation from images, Reallusion has invested extensive effort in training a proprietary AI model designed specifically for high-precision facial reconstruction.

In addition, Headshot 3 has included a range of powerful new features, including AI image generation, spline-based head shape refinement, lens correction, enhanced texture channel generation, mask brush tools, and body matching, all designed to achieve significantly higher likeness and precision.

Explore the new key features of Headshot 3:

1. Prompt to 3D Model

To obtain neutral-expression facial images suitable for constructing 3D head models, Headshot 3 includes an integrated AI Image Generation tool. Simply enter a text prompt to generate optimized front, side, and full-body photos. These images can then be automatically converted into an accurate 3D model. This streamlined workflow removes the need for tedious reference collection and enables the rapid creation of production-ready assets.

2. Higher Accuracy Across All Demographics

Headshot 3 delivers much more precise generation results tailored to specific ethnicities and ages. Whether you are creating a digital double or a unique character, the AI ensures a faithful representation of diverse human features.

3. Intuitive Bezier Controls

To achieve an even more faithful digital double, you can refine the front and side profiles with intuitive Bezier controls. This allows for granular adjustment of the head shape to match your reference perfectly. When combined with CC5 characters, this feature allows users to precisely define eyelid structures, refine mouth curves, and align the flow of laugh lines to achieve greater facial likeness.

4. Professional Lens Correction

Built-in lens correction compensates for distortion in source photos. This ensures that the generated 3D head maintains correct proportions, even when working with photos taken from different focal lengths.

5. Automatic Texture Enhancement

The new De-light function intelligently removes shadows and highlights from source photos to produce a clean albedo texture for accurate rendering. It can also generate roughness and normal maps automatically, giving users a full PBR texture set for more realistic results.

6. Advanced 3D Brush & Masking

The 3D mask brush allows users to remove unwanted blemishes and photo artifacts, such as stray hair or eyelashes captured from the source image, while enabling edits on selected texture channels or across all channels at once.

Can’t wait to try this new version of Headshot! The facial definition looks amazing! And I’m really glad you’re now taking the shape of the whole body into account, it’s going to save a lot of time.

The thing that interested me the most was the automatic body creation. The fact that it didn’t get a ton of focus tells me it’s probably simple in it’s results, but I’m hopeful that it could be useful with creating an easy starting point. Excited to try this out :]

Any hints at an actual release date for this?

Really surprised at the complete lack of chatter about this  I cant be the only one interested, right?

I am interested… What I would like is that we can combine the text prompt with a reference image so that we can also generate a side image if we already have a front image. I like the finer control as well. I’m trying to recreate myself as I looked 60 years ago and I have a hard time with that. What I also hope at some point is that hair can be created based on the image. I’m looking for a specific hairdo for my recreation and I have a hard time with that as well.

Hi… The release is planned for this month but the specific day of release has not been confirmed yet. Not long to wait though.

I’m interested but am waiting for more details on the AI generation pricing and policies before making a decision.

Wait, are you forced to use the generated images? I had assumed that was an option, but that you could also use your own images for the different angles. @Pete_RL can you shine any light on this?

Pretty sure the IA stuff is just an option and you can use your own images and/or meshes.

No you are not. The AI option is just that, an option.
If you read the first post you will that an actual image is used. What is new is that the mapping is much more refined. It actuall brings back some of the controls that were in CrazyTalk 8.

Yes, I saw that an actual image was used for first image, but what I was questioning are the different angles. I don’t see an example of side angles and the full body having an option for images to be input, I only see them having an option to be generated

Just wondering how all the generative stuff runs and the pricing.
What I mean is, I see that you get 100 free AI Image Generations. So that does that mean that the first step, the “Prompt to 3D Model” uses these paid AI Image Generations?
What about any of the other functionality?

Additionally, do these ai models run locally on your machine or in the cloud?
I’m assuming the Image Generation runs in the cloud if it costs money.
The actual mesh and texture generation from an existing image probably runs locally on your actual machine? is that right?

Sorry if this has been answered before.

Just a quick question: in the “Prompt to 3D image” feature, does the prompt have to be written in English, or is it possible to use another language?

…Still nothing? Not even a hint? I thought a week would at least bring a release date announcement
