Edit in Character Creator FOUR, not FIVE

If I want to edit a prop that is only present in the
iClone content manager, I place it on the scene and, if I want to edit it in Character Creator, I select
“Edit in Character Creator.”
I have Character Creator 4 and 5, I work better on 4,
but I can’t forward to 4 because by default “Edit in Character Creator” launches CC5.
How can I make it launch CC4?

Sure, I can resort to workarounds for once, but
I want CC4 to become the default.

As the content folders are now shared you can simply open it in CC4 from the Content Manager.

I don’t understand, or I haven’t been able to do it due to my lack of expertise.
I have an iAvatar selected in iClone, and I want to edit it using
“edit Mesh,” which is not available in iClone8.

So I ‘transport’ the selected avatar to the scene by clicking on “Edit in Character Creator.” This launches Character Creator 5, and I would like it to launch Character Creator 4.

I tried modifying a registry entry, but it didn’t work.

Maybe I wasn’t clear. What I meant was, you would need to save the iAvatar first in iClone, for example under Custom/Avatar/Character.

Then you can open it in CC4 via the Content Manager, Custom tab. Select Avatar/Character and you will find your character, which you can then modify. I have done this here, as an example:

You can the send the modified character back to iClone. It’s a bit of a workaround, but I don’t think there is a way to change the default.

Thank you, but I meant access to work ‘on the fly’
on the current pose, selected by scrolling through the timeline.
Okay, you’ve been very kind.

Interesting. I have never used it that way, but I see that it would be useful to fix clothing in certain poses.
As far as I can determine working in CC5 is not that different from working in CC4. Is there anything specific that you miss or gives you trouble?
Hmm, here is a crazy idea. What if you change the file association for cc items so that CC4 is the default?

CC5 is slightly slower, it uses a more powerful rendering engine but it’s useless for poses.
My workflow aims at rendering with shaders that are even more accurate
than CC5, so I use it ‘at the end of the job’, let’s say in post-production.

The slightly higher speed of CC4 becomes essential in ‘semi-automated’ scripting operations, and I can assure you that writing Python for iClone already takes up a huge amount of work.

No, changing the file extension association to cc4 instead of cc5 doesn’t change anything, but thank you for the suggestion.

Probably the executable part of iclone8 has been changed, which now points to cc5 in edit in character creator (at least so it seems). Anyway, thanks.
