CC4 Edit Expressions for Imported Animal?

I exported Daz House Cat as an FBX, with all the morphs in it, and imported it into CC4. I configured it as a Humanoid, i.e. I enabled HumanIK. So far so good. Then I opened Facial Profile Editor and pressed Edit Expressions. All expressions are frozen. Can you tell me why?

I need to make a talking animal. 3DX was able to get this job done, so I assume (hope) CC4 can do it as well. Please comment.
EDIT
Blender is importing my viseme morphs as an animation easily. CC4 doesn’t know they exist. Why is that?

You re-import your FBX in Facial Profile Editor to get all blend-shapes available as Custom.
Then you may start mapping them to the standard CC blend-shapes and visemes.

Something is preventing this. The Facial Profile Editor won’t activate. Instead I reimported the FBX file through File/Import, and got “Invalid file or character not compatible.”

It may be how it is exported from DAZ. I exported as “anything export” and I also included all the visemes as keyframes on the Timeline.

Saving the file in CC4 as a Character identified it as a Humanoid. But I can’t get the morphs in.
EDIT
The Character is in now, and Facial Profile Editor is activated. How would I test a morph? The slider does nothing.

Would you know of written instructions or a vid that cover this?

I found this thread where I replied to someone with similar issue:

https://forum.reallusion.com/FindPost556818.aspx

Thank you. I spotted “there is no profile.” Aye, that’s the problem. The addition of one profile, not bipedal-centric, just enough to use the lipsync tools but without destroying the pose, would be very nice. No profile, and at the same time, no clear-cut work-around instructions. I have always wondered why RL has such a narrow focus when it comes to import. I’ve suggested to them that this one missing profile would be a grand addition to their import options, but the response was silence. A third-party plugin would work too. FWIW, I would handle QA and written documentation.

An alternative may be Diffeomorphic straight from DAZ into Blender. Lipsync wouldn’t be as easy (Blender’s not so easy either), but at least the project could move forward. A good craftsman works with the tools at hand. I want to drive the car, not build it.

Actually if you go from Daz studio to Blender ,via Diffeo, you have multiple lipsinc options
for every generation of genesis 1-9

Remember your thread in the old forum?
these are Genesis 2 and G9 with animal morphs
as straight FBX import without Diffeo.

There is even a FREE video based option( Via Diffeo) that does exactly what Accuface does
except no need to even have a NIVIDI GPU.

Those are bipedal humanoids. This is what I want to lipsync:
house cat

I prefer to work on the 3D model.

Well here are some options.

Forget iIclone as your project requires a true quadriped figure with the ability to speak from audio or some facial mocap method

Your Daz options the older Cat figure
that I used here but not supported by diffeo just FBX import from Daz studio

as Daz has a few true quadripeds that also can speak.

I prefer to work on the 3D model.

If you go the Blender route nothing will prevent you altering the Daz model once inside Blender.

Yup. That’s just what I want to do. What program did you do that in? Blender? I’ve downloaded all the Diffeo files, and I’m watching the install vid now. I see it is more complex than the last time I looked at it.

And yes, I am a fan of the DAZ talking animals. They are going to waste there. I have much to learn about Blender, but I believe the time has come. I was hoping I missed something in the CC4 import process, but it looks like not.

No that cat animation is the old “Daz millenium cat” from 20 years go speaking via the Old 32 bit mimic function in the 32 bit version of Daz studio.
the modern Daz house cat is not supported by the old 32 bit mimic plugin

Just be aware that while Diffeo will import the recent recent Daz quadripeds with basic bone rigs
I get error messages upon importing the modern “Daz house cat” telling me that morphs
(including visemes needed for lipsinc) are missing.
so Diffeo is likely not a solution for talking Daz animals either.

“the modern Daz house cat is not supported by the old 32 bit mimic plugin” well, I wasn’t aware of that!

My daz v4.23 will not install either Mimic Live of Anilip 3. They were installed at first but uninstalled themselves and will not be reinstalled. I’m wondering if its a 4.23 thing. I have read a few suspicions about the stability of this version.

I am presently fighting the Blender numpy business. I’m using Grok for help, as I’ve not used CMD much is a long time. Grok can be longwinded. Repetitious too.

My daz v4.23 will not install either Mimic Live of Anilip 3. They were installed at first but uninstalled themselves and will not be reinstalled.

Mimic live was mysteriously pulled but I never tried it with any four legged animals for the short time I had it.

Not sure Anilip 3 actually supports the Daz house cat as it only lists Genesis 9 as supported figure

I have the older Anilip 2 and it claims to support the house cat but when I load it everything is greyed out with the warning ‘unsupported figure”

One reason animals are so popular in cartoons is, animals can say and do things that people cannot. That’s partly why I want to use them.

When I say these lipsync programs won’t install, I mean they show up in “ready to install,” get installed, but never become available in DAZ. Next time I load Install Manager they’re back in Ready again. I have found no clues to correcting this. (the dog was animated in Mimic, not Anilip)

Anilip 3 does the dogs and cats now. I never had any problems with v4.22 in W10. But, I’m having to rebuild my machine due to uncontrollable factors. I must use 4.23 and W11 (spits on ground). It’s very different. I’ve not been able to troubleshoot it. DAZ Forum is of no value. I think DAZ has run its race.

I’ve been trying out Grok as a teacher. He’s not perfect, and he takes a little getting used to, but he’s better than many teachers I’ve known.

Good to see they have not abandoned the Daz animals

I did this with Anilip2
on the Daz “Big Cat”

Well their utter refusal to implement a basic IK/FK system for animation and focus on the still render portrait & pinup crowd will be their undoing as that same crowd is steadily migrating over to Generative AI for their sexy girl renders.

The lipsync is a nice matchup. Who did the voice?

I’m acquainted with Ghost in the Shell. My favorite was the first one.

Voiceover must be a fine way to make money, since your studio can be anywhere. This flick is all real pro voice actors. My own voice is not so great, so I’ve taken an interest in speech-to-speech services.

My voice is horrible
I use AI generated voices exclusively now
No Apologies :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I used a paid AI service to voice “Bato” and all of the Characters
in my “Ghost in the Shell” Fan Film created entirely in Iclone.
