Hi
I’m doing a goblin for the contest. The idea is that he is an alchemist who makes potions and toxins from scorpions, toads, etc. He also has a little friend, who helps him inspire his ideas
.
It’s still very early, I’m doing the blockout and developing the design/idea right now
have changed the design a bit. Wanted him to have some cages with scorpions, so i thought it would be a good idea to incorporate some of the cages shape on his head. I think the silhouette works a lot better from the side as well.

Looks great–lots of personality!

The blockout took longer than expected, but I’m finally in a good spot! I might make a few minor adjustments later, but for the most part, it’s time to start refining the shapes now

Changed the design once again. Was not happy with the front, so i added a few spikes to the head and some shoulders. The idea of his shoulders is that he’s using it as a little garden for his mushrooms. I wanted the curly (scorpion tail) shape of his shoulders in the silhouette from the front, but it has a function as well. It keeps the mushrooms in shadow.

i’m thinking about removing the cage on the back. Let me know what you think
I think it’s better to keep it, adds even more character to him. It could give him even more mystery element if you could just add some feet/talons that are barely visible under the cloth (without actually making the whole character).
Absolutely. My idea was to make a chain between his hand and a hand hanging from the cage. But i’m a bit worried about the animation/rigging. So i think its gonna be a nice to have, if i have time at the end. If not, i will just add the hand
