[WIP] 2026 Reallusion 3D Character Contest - Victor Gage - Ehsan Taheri [ET]

Hello everyone.

I’m thankful that I got another chance taking part in a Reallusion contest.

I’ve had the idea of a steampunk character in my mind, so I found this contest would be a nice opportunity to make it come alive.

His name is Victor Gage, he is a steampunk era mechanic who had to fight in a war and became injured. Now after the war, he is facing a government order to hunt him down because they found proof that Victor saved an enemy soldier during the war.

He uses a pressure measuring device on his body to monitor the health of his lungs since he had an injury. Since I had him in mind as a videogame character, the pressure measuring system on his back can help to show his health by changing color [from blue to orange and red].

Also there are the breathing flowers which he has to use to keep breathing easily. [ or alternatively the flowers might be used to avoid the toxic air of the world he lives in ]

He uses a prosthetic hand (more like a glove since he has his real hand) that gives him various tools to work with, like a magnifying system, a pressure measuring system so he can measure steam pressure of different devices, etc.

I made the first draft of the concept using AI and I worked upon it using Photoshop to get the details right.

Here are the main concepts and some other ideas that led to the current concept. Things might be changing but I think it’s a good base for the start.

I’m trying to create some conepts from different parts of the character, I like to work on some of the detailed parts like the guantlet seperatly and then I bring it to the character. Here I came up with some basic design for the guantlet and then I used AI to get a more life-like image with materials on it. Then photobashed and photoshped it for the details.

Hello, more updates !
Since I’m busy with my wedding in a few weeks it was a little hard for me to find time, I wish the deadline was extended
So I used the HD CC5 base to begin with, I finally came up with the face of Victor and I like the feeling of it, specially when I get to add the hair and the beard I think it will come together well.
Here some shots of my zbrush sculpt and also a shot from the exported version to CC5 using GoZPlus (which is pretty handy):

And here the concept of some of the cloths and accessories that I’m going to work on next:

Here’s a variety of refrences and faces that I came up with in order to get the feeling that I want, I really care about the feeling of the face, the way it makes the character uniqe in realistic made characters. I even noticed one of the versions that I was playing with in CC5 kind of became like Max Payne  (right corner)

I like the one I finally came up with, not too angry and hursh and not too soft, a mixture of both. Of course adding hair and beard is going to change the feeling a lot more. I actually used a female basemesh and tried to masculinize it, this sort of approaches sometimes end up in interesting results. Also as you can see here I used the body of HD base character to test it with the animations too, the idle animations actually help a lot in the process to see if I am headed in the right direction or not. I like it that I can just jump into CC5 where ever in the middle of the process and put on some animation on the character.
