Nervous to start a character contest - been years since I’ve done one, but, it’s an opportunity to just make cool stuff. Can’t do that unless you try right?
So here we go. Asked a friend of mine to choose my fate by giving me an animal and theme prompt. He chose Octopus and Cyberpunk… So, a nice challenge for sure.
Worked on some silhouettes… At first I was thinking something like Krang from 80s Ninja Turtles cartoon, but I’m starting to lean more towards the humanoid mad scientist.
We’ll see!

Gathered some reference and worked on sketching different ideas - I’m thinking this is what I’m going to push more. I’ve decided his name will be Dr. Inktvis O’Teuthis-Byte.
I really like the physique of the character Megamind - and taking inspiration from his cape collar.
When thinking of how he communicates, I thought of a voice modulator similar to that of Darth Malgus - with tubes connecting to the water helmet.
I liked the idea of having actual tentacle arms to help him with every day movements or interactions, somewhat like the shadow tentacles Alastor (from Hazbin Hotel) uses.
One tentacle throughout time became so injured it needed to be removed - causing him to replace it with a cybernetic one. His hands are also robotic - as the tips of those arms were chopped off, so actual hands could be attached.
I will still be working on figuring out colour - I am leaning towards the blue/purple or blue/yellow.
But yea, that’s my progress so far
Thanks for stopping by!
Cheers.

Doodling some expressions while trying to work out some colour. Think I’m leaning towards the teal/pink.

Working through colour concepts - think I’ve got that figured out for the most part.
Trying to work out some base mesh stuff in Character Creator. This is my first time using this program… So, lots of trial/error ahead lol!

This is the first project I’ve ever done using Character Creator, so everything is lear by doing lol.
I’ve been having some troubles understanding the GoZ process, I think the issue has been the fact I’ve had to edit the head so much compared to the base mesh created with the morph sliders in Character Creator.
So, I took the pose export and just working on that to get where I need. Then I’ve seen some tutorials on importing back to CC as a prop and doing the rigging myself.
Still trying to push forward - learning lots
