Unreal Engine 5.6 CC4 plugin updates

There would have been zero complains if the devs actually thought about users and put an ETA !! Nobody want to waste their energy on a forum to complain anyway !

I replied earlier in this thread and explained the update is on the way BUT there was no fixed release date as yet. This remain the same today.

As already mentioned it normally takes several weeks after the release of a new Unreal update (not preview release) and we are on course for the same release timeframe that we have been doing since UE4.

It’s not ‘actually’ reallusion at fault here, it’s actually Epic that constantly has a moving goal post so that plugins have to constantly reworked, if they got it right in the first place plugins wouldn’t need updating past general bug fixing / feature additions, so if you really want to swing a bat I’d swing it Epics way.

For me, I would prefer to have the source code that matches the compiled binaries, so we can fix issues ourselves.

The source code inside the plugin folder does not match the compiled code in 5.5.

That way, we could also help the community fix problems more quickly!

I’m only frustrated with the lack of communication regarding the plugins, but I’m still pretty new here all to together and wasn’t around during the last update cycle. Pete did reply with an update and he says they’re on track, so I’ll believe him.

But that’s not really how software development works. There isn’t a “getting it right the first time”. I have my own frustrations with Epic regarding UE but that’s a different topic all together, a new version brings new features which might be incompatible with older functions or features, it’s why they separate it as a different version. As far as plugins or 3rd party addon’s (for any software), you either evolve with the times or you become irrelevant.

Sorry for the late reply. The AutoSetup for 5.6 is currently in progress and should be released next week.

Great news. Thank you!

Hallelujah! Cant wait

I’m a senior engineer that has been working with proprietary and free game engines for 23 years now. Yes, I know how tempting it is to update to the latest and greatest version of your favorite game engine but you have to be extremely cautions because backwards-compatibility issues will happen more often than not. Hardware can fail, software can fail, things you have no control over can happen out of the blue.

Plan ahead and always keep multiple backups of your projects. Good luck!
