Turn CC3+ in Humanoid to use skinweights

I want to use sking weights in cc3+ characters. Is there any easy way to turn them in humanoid for the button to appear? It should appear by default.

Skin weights are only used for clothing, which are separate items for CC3+ characters. So why would you want to use skin weights?

It turns out the issue was mostly my lack of understanding of how CC handles skin weights.

For CC3+ characters, as you mentioned, skin weights are mainly used for clothing or items that are separate from the base character. That’s why the Skin Weights button only appears for those meshes.

In my case I was trying to modify ears and tails. The ears were created using morph sliders, so to add bones and paint weights they actually need to be exported to Blender and rigged first.

For tails and similar props, you normally don’t paint skin weights directly in CC. Instead you use Transfer Skin Weights or the Spring system. Transfer Skin Weights didn’t give me the result I wanted, and I didn’t know enough about Spring Bones at the time. The correct tool for adding motion in this case is Edit Spring, where you activate the group and adjust Mass, Strength and Bounciness.

The tutorials I watched were about humanoid rigs, where the Skin Weights tool appears, which is what confused me.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
