Yesterday I reported V8.73.5509 had loading problems (not responding after reaching 90% load (updating scene stage). I forget to mention my computer, which is DELL XPS 8960 64Gb RAM & 12Gb Gforce RTX 4070. It has an Intel Core i9 14th generation processor. (15th Gen processor is the Ultra brand with special focus on AI). All storage is SSD. My project is 176079 tris & file size 332147Kb. Project still has no animation, no actor, & only 1 camera.
I consider the equipment is not poor! And for the past 6 months, I had the COVER taken away & added 2 fans, one blowing the processor and 1 blowing the RTX to keep them cool. Processor temperature critically affects speed.
Last night, I got rid of V8.73 & used V8.72, which is better & can load my project in 60s to 80s, perpetual ‘not responding’ did not happen for 5 trials.
But the operation speed is slower than the V8.65, that I had been using for ~6 months.
I guess V8.7 series must add a lot of features, my point is that many of those are not useful to most users. My wish & suggestion is that they keep a V8.65 legacy VERSION for this group of users, like me.
NOTE: I am already using Quick Mode in PreView… it is still slow in undo, hide/unhide, transform etc… almost in all operation.
