Hello,
I’m a new user to CC5. After activating the trial and downloading CC5, I was greeted with the message “Failed to connect to local database.” I tried every solution I found here (Installation | FAQ), but my problem still isn’t resolved.
I originally had version CC 5.0.7, which isn’t the newest (5.1.1 is the latest), and I couldn’t update it through the Reallusion Hub. So I decided to purchase a monthly subscription and reinstall everything to get the newest 5.1.1 version — but I’m still getting the same error.
Could you please help me resolve this issue?
Thank you in advance.
Hi,
Have you tried restoring the Smart Content Manager’s database to the default?
You may follow the steps here: How do I restore the Smart Content Manager's database to the default?
Please let me know if this works!
Hi, I tried that earlier. Now, when I attempt to open the link, instead of downloading the files it just redirects me to the default site (https://www.reallusion.com/). Which is strange because I managed to download that files on friday
My apologies, it seems like the older link had been removed, here’s the new one: iClone 8#1 | FAQ
Hi, sorry for the late reply. I wanted to respond sooner, but my account received a 20-hour block on replying because I’m a new user.
I tried to run the reset database tool, but it failed:
- “C:\ProgramData\Reallusion\ContentManager\MetaCache\Character Creator 5” — MetaCache doesn’t exist in my folder structure.
- “C:\ProgramData\Reallusion\ContentManager\InstallCache” — InstallCache also doesn’t exist in my folder structure.
- “C:\Program Files\Common Files\Reallusion\PostgreSQL\bin”\pg_ctl.exe -D C:\ProgramData\Reallusion\CMS stop → pg_ctl: directory “C:/ProgramData/Reallusion/CMS” is not a database cluster directory.
After looking into it, it seemed the folder structure for C:\ProgramData\Reallusion\ContentManager was incorrect, so I received a special .bat script from support — but that didn’t help either.
I eventually managed to fix it by unlocking the special administrator account with the following command in CMD:
net user administrator /active:yes
After that, I uninstalled everything, including manually removing the broken folder structure from C:\ProgramData\Reallusion, and then reinstalled everything from scratch using the new administrator account.
