Reallusion Certification and the Content Store: Rules and guidelines?

Assets that are published in the Marketplace sometimes receive the “Reallusion Certified” badge. I would like to understand, what the rules are for certification, because I noticed some things I don’t quite understand:

  • The assets of some creators almost seem to be rubber stamped as certified, no matter how “good” they actually are.
  • Some creators have only some of their assets certified but not others, without any rhyme or reason I can detect.
  • Some assets are certified which, even though, judging by the trial version or when I actually purchased them, they should, in my opinion, not have been certified if certification is indicative of a certain level of the asset’s quality.
  • Some creators never have their assets certified.

Question 1: In light of these observations, what are the rules/guidelines for Reallusion to award the certification badge?

And then there is a “strange” relationship between certified assets and the Content Store:

  • Some assets are certified and make it into the Content Store on day one (i.e. when initially published).
  • Other assets receive certification but don’t make it into the Content Store for weeks or months; while still others never make it into the Content Store in spite of certification.

Question 2: What is the relationship between certification on the one hand and whether and when an asset being offered in the Content Store on the other?

Could someone please explain these things to me? While I’m not a developer, I purchase quite a lot of assets on the RL platforms and, as a customer, I like to understand the rules of the market I engage in.

Hi…

When someone joins the developer program they become a Content Developer and can begin selling their content for DA Points in the Marketplace. The DA Points earned can’t be cashed out but can be used to purchase other products from the Marketplace or saved.

Once you have established yourself as a vendor in the Marketplace, and have accumulated sales of 10,000 DA Points you can apply to become a Certified Content Developer. If approved you can then start to cash out your earnings on a monthly basis.

Initially even Certified Content Developers can only sell their content in the Marketplace, but periodically Reallusion will select content from the Marketplace and promote it on the Content Store. Note that good quality and exceptional visual appeal are required to be featured in the Content Store.

I hope this helps explain the process.

Hi Peter,
Thanks for getting back to me.

You explained the basic approach to becoming a Certified Content Developer in general terms, but my questions, for the most part, still remain:

  • Why does the time between certification and the certified assets appearing in the Content Store vary so much?
  • Why are the assets of some creators “rubber stamped”, while other creators have only some of their assets certified and not other assets of theirs (which are of comparable quality)?

I’m not looking to become a content developer, but as a buyer, I like to plan my purchases and make the best use of discount/promos as I can, and I find it quite frustrating to see a few assets join the Content Store very quickly and others either take many weeks or never make it despite being certified (which usually means that I have to be very patient).
