[OFFICIAL] iClone 8.7 Issues Thread

Dear iClone Users,

iClone 8.7 is now available. However, as with all updates there may be a few bugs, glitches or other annoying issues that remain.

Important: If you do find any bugs, issues or glitches in iClone 8.7, please can you report them first in the Feedback Tracker. Then feel free to discuss the issues in this thread but do try to include a link back to the original Feedback Tracker report or your tracker number.

As always it will help us greatly if we can keep all technical issues in the one place (this thread). This will help the development team keep track of any problems.

Please do try to provide your full system specifications and a detailed description of the problem when reporting issues and include screenshots and/or a workflow video whenever possible. If you can provide specific steps so we can try and reproduce the problem that will be even better.

iClone 8.7 introduces Motion Planning, a brand-new plugin that adds a node-graph system for constructing scalable human-motion scripts and simulations. It supports reusable Motion Planning Sets (MP Sets) and includes workflow enhancements that make graph building faster and more interactive.

Other updates in 8.7 include the new Fly Camera, improved prop performance with Merge Prop, expanded AI-driven Prompt Control options, USD export unit selection, and integration/stability improvements across the ecosystem.

  • The Fly Camera features intuitive controls for dynamic scene navigation. Hold the right mouse button to move the camera using the WASD keys, and move the mouse to adjust the viewing angle.

  • Menu access for the new Fly Camera under “Preference > Control > Navigation > Fly Cam”.

  • “Merge Prop” function allows sub-items of a prop to be fully merged into a single unified mesh, material, and set of textures, improving complex props can significantly improve performance in packed scenes.

  • Mesh names can now be edited in the “Material” list.

  • Fly Camera available in Free Camera mode (also accessible via the Trigger panel). Hold the right mouse button to move the camera using the WASD keys, and move the mouse to adjust the viewing angle.

  • Motion Planning mode featuring a node-based graph for constructing human motion scripts and simulations. Includes factory and daily life simulation themes.

  • Support for Motion Planning Sets (MP Sets), which package Motion Planning node graphs together with human animation, and interactive MD items as reusable, storable resources.

  • Prompt Control enables text or speech input for AI-based processing and scene event control, currently powered by ChatGPT-4o.

  • iClone now supports integration with third-party AI APIs. Users can provide a custom API key to replace the default ChatGPT model.

  • Added node graph editor to enable logic control of interactive workflow, include click-to-create nodes, grouping of multiple nodes, application of graph presets, and improved visibility for planning sets and highlight methods.

  • Added support for expanding with new props and characters, as well as replacing existing characters.

  • Added five decision-making nodes that either detect presence, measure distance between objects, check if an item is within range, or evaluate custom values.

  • Added a Print node for logging time, distance, boolean values, text strings, and the x,y positions of items in the scene.The Print node supports Text Particles for displaying text directly in the viewport. Text Particles can be accessed from the Content Manager under “Pack > MD Props > Set > Particle”

  • Unit of measure for exported USD files can now be changed to either use centimeters or meters.

  • Optimized the onload and offload motion sequences for Tool 5 - Dolly, ensuring the MD prop properly connects with the associated motions.

Fixed

  • Path
  • Visual glitches appear for path offset keys in the timeline on objects following a path.
  • General
  • Scrolling within the “Modify > Material” tab panel causes certain projects to lag.

  • Transforming an object while the Gizmo is disabled negatively affects object scaling and Z-axis panning for the camera.

  • Inability to apply props to static objects.

  • AccuFACE crashes when importing a video with a mono audio track.

  • Inability to import videos that lack an audio track.

When the character uses facial manipulation, their neck enlarges and clips through the collar of their clothing.

i contacted support about an issue. #266944. for some weird reason, i can not render video output in IC8 to a WMV. they told me that it was a known issue and that it would be fixed in the 8.7 patch. it was not. any suggestions? aside from accuring a 3rd party converter?

Is this part of Motion Planning? or for all of iClone 8.7 ?

[PLEASE HELP] 300K Sub channel at risk: Critical iClone update bug is KILLING our production!

I am in a very difficult situation and currently facing two major issues:

When I transfer a character with custom clothing to Unreal, I get this error:

“Technical Log Findings: Unreal Engine’s Message Log shows that IK bones (ik_foot_root, ik_hand_gun, etc.) are missing from the bind pose only when clothing is applied. This prevents the Live Link from recognizing the subject.”

Because of this, Live Link won’t connect. Props and naked characters work fine, but anything with clothing fails.

It’s not an asset issue. I’ve used these exact same characters and clothes for over a year without any problems, and it worked perfectly just a week ago. I’ve tested Unreal versions 5.4 through 5.7 with all plugins correctly installed, but the error persists.

This clearly started after the iClone update. My work has been completely stopped for two months. There is no workaround. This is fatal for me. Please check and fix this immediately.

I would truly appreciate your help.

I have an employee in Vietnam who only has iClone installed.

After they edit my mocap files and send them back, I get an error asking me to purchase contents I already own when I try to use Live Link.

I have already tried “Activate Purchased Items” and “Activate Entire Library,” and “View Unpurchased Items” shows nothing. Because of this error, I cannot use any of the animation work done by my employee.

Everything is stuck. Unlike other bugs, there is no workaround for this. I cannot render two months of mocap and animation data in Unreal. For a YouTuber, the upload schedule is everything. This is fatal to my growing channel. Please check this issue immediately.

Alternatively, please tell me how to downgrade. While I can downgrade iClone, I cannot downgrade the Unreal Live Link plugin, so these errors keep repeating. Please help.

Apologies that this issue wasn’t fixed in iClone 8.7. I will check with the dev team regarding this issue and will update again when I know more.

I use clothing conform and give the clothing a little more breathing room.

Hi Mr Vidius… The issue should now be fixed in the next update (8.71). However, please feel free to check with Support as a temporary hotfix may be made available before the next full update is released.
