No control over physics on custom hairstyle

Hello, i have a custom low poly hair prop (braid) and i have no clue how to give it some physics .Any hairstyle ive tried in the physics tab makes the hair fall into all kind of directions. I figured out that weight maps are an important part, but i just cant get any control over it. Intention is to make the hair hang down when the char moves into the position below.

Looks to me as if the “hair” consists of several different meshes (which, of course, separate when made dynamic). You may want to rig “hair” like this with bones/joints and have spring physics work on those. I don’t think, hair weight maps are going to work for you in this case, but I could be wrong.
(Personally, I only use purchased hair-styles with the custom weight maps that come with them or I create my own 3D hair (not card based) in C4D.)

Like Nirwana said, the hair is made up of different meshes that were merged together to make on asset. The only way you can get this hair to move is by giving it bones, then enabling spring joints. Alternatively, you could merge the vertices together in a 3rd party program like Maya, UV the asset, then recreate the weight maps.

Thank you both for the comments. I ll probably merge it into one single mesh, then see what happens.
