New user

Hi all,

Looking for some guidance as a newbie starting out. I have a project I would like to develop, using characters Ive designed. They are just 2d. Im overwhelmed now with all the options and add ons etc, how do I now easily rig these characters, to then use them in small animation skits? Is manually rigging them in PS then importing to CA5 still relevant?

Many thanks

Hi…

There are several ways to create custom characters in Cartoon Animator 5, including using popular 3rd party tools like Photoshop, Affinity Photo/Designer and Illustrator. However, you can also just create a character directly in CTA5 itself if you wish.

To create a character using CTA5, please check out the tutorial HERE.

If you wish to create a character using external tools, we provide templates to make the process easier. You can find these in your Reallusion Account Registration page by clicking the Download link for Cartoon Animator 5.

Then to create a character using the PSD pipeline (easiest), please see the tutorial HERE and for the SVG pipeline see HERE.

All the methods explained above show how to create a Standard G3 Character which can then use animations from Reallusion’s huge library of included or purchasable motion clips.

However, you can also animate almost anything using the “Free Bone” method. A tutorial for this can be found HERE and is a great way to get started for newcomers.

I hope this helps guide you in the right direction.
