MetaTailor Won't work

So I downloaded the plugin and installed it, done it few times by now.

And now I’m starting getting a bit angry at this point. Where it says “Unable to connect to Metatailor App. Please ensure it is properly installed and running” FRAK what gives man. FIX this issue. Do I really need a fracking APP? Bull****

Maybe you should learn a bit about plugins.

The plugin requires that the main App is installed on your PC for it to work. This applies to Unity, 3ds Max, Blender and all the rest of the supported software.

If the parent App isn’t on your PC then the plugin won’t do you any good.

You can find all the information regarding pricing here on the MataTailor site.

Sorry for outburst, but thanks for helping me, Wires. Well at least you gave me more info what to do.

So thanks!

Do I really need Pro version for MetaTailor?

Judging by the information on their product page I suspect that the Pro version would be required if a user wanted to do anything really useful with the software.

The pro version is required, but it isn’t just a CC plugin. METATAILOR is a full standalone application that allows you to use ANY 3D clothing, with ANY 3D character for ANY 3D game, and you can do all of that under 60 seconds without ever painting a single skinweight.

Is there a trial version of Metatailor Pro that allows you to try out CC4 and Metatailor before I sign up for an expensive annual subscription?
Greetings Robert

@rosuckmedia

Hi Robert, take a look at their homepage, there is a trial version available.

I only use CC and iClone and there is no way on this planet that I’m going to part with $336,00 every year to use this stuff.

Yes, it’s absolutely ridiculous. Instead of making an effort and improving an outdated Conform routine (which changed little since CC1), RL is proudly offering this.
It would be a real shame if Conform is not improved in CC5. Imagine those HD characters dressed in crippled by Conform clothing :slightly_frowning_face:

Hi Gerry and Gurgen,
I must have missed that, thank you very much. :+1:

The pro version is required. 336$ is for the year, you can change the option to monthly and it’s just 35$/mo!

$35*12=$420/year, so that’s even more.

I looked at Marvelous Designer pricing and that’s $280 on a yearly basis for personal.

The problem is that one would use a program like this only occasionally, so it is quite a lot of cash outlay, especially since it is a subscription.

Iclone is becoming the last 3D character program
with a perpetual license other than Blender,Poser and a recent (likely doomed), attempt to resurrect Lightwave3D.

Even Daz now has “PREMIUM” version with the more advanced features locked behind a $20 dollar/month paywall.

Hi Jordan,
Thanks for the information.
Greetings Robert

Style3d Atelier is a cheaper option again than Marvelous Designer, and you can rent it (without renewal) on a monthly cost - plus you can import obj clothing from the likes of daz and it’ll auto convert it into a garment using the UV co-ordinates.
Style3D Atelier

I tried the Metatailor plugin for a couple of days but wasn’t happy with the results.

I use this $40 (single payment) Plugin for Blender along with the Blender pipeline tool to create clothing for my CC3 characters

@AutoDidact
Very interesting Plugin, can I also load the CC4 character?
Could you perhaps make a short tutorial about it?
Greetings Robert

The addon works with any biped humanoid character.
My advice is the bring in the CC character ,via the Blender pipeline tool, in the default T-pose

Create your cloth item ,as shown in the video below,
use the pipeline tool to export it back to Iclone as an accessary and transfer the skin weights in CC4

@AutoDidact
Thank you for your reply. I will think about it. I am not a Blender expert. Will the weight maps also be transferred if I transfer it via the Pipeline accessory to CC4/CC5 as an accessory?
Greetings Robert

I only have CC3 .
I export the character from CC3 and leave them open in CC3
in the t-pose

After I create my cloth mesh with Divine cut
I use the “export accessory” button” on the CC3 pipeline tool panel.
back in CC3 I choose “create accessory option and choose the FBX/mesh that the pipeline tool exported and it appears on the CC3 character.
Then I transfer the skin weights in CC3 to Make it a conformer.
You could assign material zones/UV’s in Blender before export though.
