Looking to upgrade facial caputre hardware,

My iphone is old and purchased refurbished. It works ok, a little choppy and I am not seeming to get the fluid motions that I see in the samples on the facial capture software.

I am thinking that with all the new character features, newer camera tech, and so on, I am thinking that updating the capture may be needed.

I can get a reasonable price on a new iphone 17 pro, but then I am thinking that all I need this for is this software. A phone is really more than I need especially getting a phone line with it.

Then I thought… ipad. I can get more use from an ipad than a phone that would only be used for facial capture.

I read that the front camera’s are equally good, how to ipads work with iclone? Are they comparable to the iphone? or is the iphone still better for the reallusion software?

Thanks

So any iOS device that has a Truedepth camera will work. But first try simply setting your render level to “Minimum” before recording your facial mocap.

Another option, if you have an Nvidia RTX card is to get the Accuface plugin. It is a nice option because it capture from videos, as well as live from a webcam.

Hmmmm, so this old iphone is not the issue? Was thinking that maybe a better processor would help.

I am not sure what plug-ins I have, I know I have the live face, I will have to check for the other. Maybe a 4k web cam might be better.

I do have an RTX3036, older I know but H E double toothpicks (the filters on this forum are ridiculous), I bought it during covid and paid way too much :frowning:

Thanks for the advice
