Live Link Trial will not work with iClone Personal

It does not seem that the Unreal Engine Live Link Trial will work with iClone Personal (8). When I open the .exe it takes me to the Reallusion Hub and tells me I need to purchase iClone - yet this is supposed to be a trial (Unreal_Live_Link_Plugin_for_iClone_Trial_Hub.exe).

So, either it’s still expecting to communicate with the older iClone 8 trial, there’s something not working in the trial executable, something not working in iClone 8 personal, or the hub itself.

Can someone please indicate when the live link for unreal might be updated in order to properly work with iClone 8 ‘Personal’?

Thank you for any insights.

Any information on this matter is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Funfunfun,

Just checking in to see if your Unreal Live Link trial is still valid.

Thank you,

@Winner_RL Thanks for your response. Still valid in what way? It didn’t install, because it requires iClone 8 to be purchased. But it’s a trial, and therefore it shouldn’t require anything to be purchased. And so the trial has never started to begin with.

Hi funfunfun,

Do you currently have the iClone 8 Trial installed on your computer? Please note that iClone 8 Personal cannot be installed alongside the full version of iClone 8. Therefore, you will not be able to use the Unreal Live Link plug-in with iClone 8 Personal.

Best regards

@Winner_RL I’m sorry, I have no idea what you’re saying.

“Do you currently have the iClone 8 Trial installed on your computer?”

  • No, I don’t.

“Please note that iClone 8 Personal cannot be installed alongside the full version of iClone 8.”

  • Well, it isn’t. I only have iClone Personal.

“Therefore, you will not be able to use the Unreal Live Link plug-in with iClone 8 Personal.”

  • Why, “Therefore”? Those conditions do not apply to my scenario.

  • Is it simply just the case that the Unreal Live Link plug-in WON’T work with iClone 8 Personal? That would be simpler (although still lacking a reason). To say that the plug-in’s function depends on a scenario that does not exist for me, is inaccurate and an assumption.

Hi funfunfun,

Yes, the Unreal Live Link trial should work with iClone 8 Personal. We would first like to confirm whether your trial license is still valid, as an expired trial may be causing the issue.

If you mean that the Reallusion Hub opens, this is expected, as you will be prompted to install both iClone 8 and Unreal Live Link through the Hub.

Could you please provide a screen recording showing the steps you follow when installing Unreal Live Link, including the point at which you are prompted to purchase iClone 8? This will help us better understand and investigate the issue.

Thank you.

Thanks. I already confirmed (in a previous comment) that no trial has even started yet on this new computer (except I just installed CC yesterday). That’s it. If it’s a new computer and there is no tag next to anything that says expired - I believe that confirms it.

Now, you did not specify which product’s trial license - but I assume you mean the live link trial. Can you please confirm that’s what you meant?

I don’t have time today to create a screen recording. But just know that I downloaded and attempted to install this specific file name: “Unreal_Live_Link_Plugin_for_iClone_Trial_Hub.exe”

If that’s the incorrect exe to use, please let me know which one I should be using. It’s when I click on that exe that it says I need to a purchased/licensed version of iClone 8. And of course, since the live link plugin is a trial, it makes no sense that it would require the purchased version of iClone 8.

Now, if it was looking for the Trial version of iClone 8 instead of iClone 8 Personal - then that could be the issue. Can you please let me know if that could be the conflict?

Thanks.

Hi inlimbo,

Could you confirm whether you are the same user as funfunfun?

We would need a screen recording to better understand what is happening, as we are currently unable to identify the issue based on your description.

To clarify, you can use iClone 8 Personal with Unreal Live Link Trial Version. You will need to install the Unreal Live Link plug-in through Reallusion Hub and download Unreal Auto Setup from our website:

Please follow the steps in this video tutorial to install both Unreal Live Link and Auto Setup. The same procedure also applies to iClone 8 Personal.

If the issue persists after completing these steps, please send us a screen recording of your workflow so we can assist you further.

Thank you.
