Intel 12th gen DX9 removement

If i may make a suggestion: Make a category for “Other” things that dont fit eslewhere.

Intel has announced to remove DX9 from their 12th gen CPus, but i recently found out DX9 games and other 3D apps still work fine on an I7 12700K / MSI Z690 / RTX 3080 (2022). Was that information wrong or how can DX9 stuff still work ? Opinions ?

Yes, it’s true that Intel has removed native DirectX 9 (DX9) support from its 12th generation CPUs with Xe GPUs and Arc discrete GPUs. Instead, DirectX 9 applications and games will be supported through emulation using Microsoft’s D3D9On12 interface, which translates DX9 calls to DX12.

Thanks, i asume due to faster hardware the emulation wouldnt have much impact on the performance of DX9

Hi… We had a “General Off Topic” area on the old forum and it was a nightmare to moderate. Sadly despite making clear its purpose, it was constantly used for product related questions which needed moving.

It’s also important to remember that this forum is intended solely for discussion of Reallusion products and services. It’s not a general 3D, AI or animation forum. All topics posted here should be related to Reallusion’s products and services in some way. If they are not, then this really isn’t the forum for them.

Thank you kindly for your statement .
