I saved up for Iclone by going without food, and now this. TBH i feel fooled a bit.
BTW: why not CC5 ![]()
Why do you feel like youâve been fooled?
you were offered iclone for a certain price at the time that you bought it with no promise about what the prices would be in the future
The reality is this
if reallusion wants to attract new people into their ecosystem theyâre going to have to give them some incentive.
The fact that you can use the free version with the AI studio system( and apparently with the new RTX renderer that is coming as well), is quite frankly a brilliant business strategy and it is one where free alternatives like Daz studio failed miserably in their attempts to incorporate AI with their software.
And the luddites in the blender community will absolutely shout down any attempt to incorporate AI into blender at any official level leaving it up to the individual users to use blender as a 3D hybrid workflow with AI and many refuse to do that out of fear of being ostracized by the religious purists and the blender user base who will ban you if you dare post anything AI related in their myopic little online blender forums.
Understand that I personally fall into the category of people who do not see the need to use a 3D program at all as Iâm doing everything I want to do in terms of 3D animation 2D animation and 2D comics and graphic novels with pure AI systems.
Thus I personally have no need to even bother downloading this new free version of iclone 8 even if I had the hardware capable of running it ( which I donât) and I have no intention of spending the thousands of dollars to acquire such hardware as Iâm using online AI systems.
But I do understand why reallusion is giving people this new free option to attract them into the reallusion ecosystem, itâs a matter of survival in a rapidly changing marketplace and those who try to ignore AI, hoping that some mythical bubble is going to pop and all of this AI technology is going to magically disappear from human civilization.
Well those people are probably in for a big disappointment.
iClone 8 isnât free now. iClone Personal is a new free version which replaces the Trial version. iClone Personal only allows 30 3D exports, but can then be used unlimited with AI Studio. It also canât be used for commercial use.
So why do you continue to post on the iClone forum?
Enough is enough. I donât see AI could fully replace 3D application. Iâm totally conversant in AI system like Flux2 Klein and LTX 2.3 with new Director mode 2.0 but surely and certainly if I skip the 3D app like iClone/Blender/Unreal to make the anchor and Blender/Unreal to make the 3d View of the background with proxy scene, AI scene would be cut out and never fill the actual vibe of the realistic image. Hybrid AI system is the best which replace the proxy props (color coded) with realistic furniture or architecture or stone wall etc. Without making character in 3d app and background in DCC app AI model will get confused about the camera angle and produce same background (obviously you fixed the seed for consistency of characters) with all different camera angle. What iClone is offering is good for who have already using higgsfield or similar platform but for real user who is creating long video a real pipeline to Comfyui in batch would be the best bet even Comfy sell their API through Reallusion. Comfy UI or Huggingface are much cheaper than costly AI platform Reallusion force to introduce. We don;t need Flux2 Max . Klein is enough to do the job. Take the propeitery right to Reallusion and sell them to Reallusion customer either in month or Perpetual license. simple.
Not true former UE5 film maker âJSFILMZâ made an 18 minute AI film without using any 3D programs.
But back on topic: Reallusion can bring NEW USERS into its powerful ecosystem with this free version of Iclone.
and many will use Iclone personal and the new RTX render engine and create their animated films without having to learn Blender or UE5/6 (just to get better looking renders)
I see this as nothing but a HUGE win for Reallusion.
I have been with Reallusion for almost 20 years (starting with iClone 1.52), so I donât know how many thousands of dollars I have spent. It has given me enjoyment (and frustration at times), and I am glad I made the switch from Poser at the time. DAZ, well DAZ had a promissing program called Carrara, but it has become abandonware. They are now in the business of providing datasets for AI training (Daz 3D)
RL has been evolving and still is without being snatched up by some of the large 3D companies (and become subscription only) or by totally disappearing (many fine 3D programs in that category).
But, I have felt for a while that an entry level option was missing, because the full iClone and CC have becoming quite costly. So I agree with RLâs decision to introduce a free basic iClone with AI capabilities.
wow I was not aware that Daz was doing that but it sort of makes sense as they do have a lot of content that they own that can be used for AI training data so it itâs probably a good move for them.
You could not take my point. If I can afford highly overpriced ByDance SeeDance 2 or 2.5, ( I do the same job with LTX 2.3 with Director mode 2.0- it is not perfect but workable. Moreover, it is free) .why I will not afford the AI capability of iClone with Flux Max. which worked as batch rendering in much superior precision in close association with real characters and animation with 3D background ? My point is Reallusion should think about to survive in competition with Unreal Engine and Blender both are virtually free. Unreal getting almost beside in animation and character creation capabilities at par with iClone and CC. People still stick to Reallusion due to their innovative work by creating complex thing easy but somehow through the way they lost their path for some catchy flashy thing. I again request to Reallusion to be yourselg and make strong your uniqueness and develop some real RTX renderer not with nVidia but with any GPU in the market.
I really do not understand why people say things like this.
right now as of today anyone who already owns the latest iclone can do everything that reallusion has promised it could do for the most part.
any new user who purchases a full perpetual, monthly rental or download the free personal edition can do all of the things that youâve always been able to do with iclone ( of course the personal addition has limitations, and theyâre clearly stated on the website)
you can choose to ignore all of the AI stuff entirely, so I do not see how reallusion has somehow" lost its path"
Two things can happen at the same time without them being mutually exclusive in some zero sum equation.
adding AI features & AI studio does not take away anything from what youâve already been able to do with the Reallusion software.
RTX is unique to NVidia so it would not be possible to develop a solution for any GPU on the market. As a small company, RL doesnât have unlimited resources so they were smart to work with NVidia on this.
