I spun the wheel go a 200$ voucher that doesn't work

Hello I spun the wheel this morning and won a 200$ voucher.
However when I try to use it I have this message
“The Coupon code you’ve entered does not apply to some of your items.”
this is what I’m trying to buy

Read the fine print, Fren. o7

They got me, too. I looked around and tried to find this exact fine print, but it wasn’t anywhere on any page except for this one little spot. I don’t want $400 worth of stuff, i only wanted $200. It makes it so the higher “voucher” you get, the less valuable it actually is (except that $500 one), because I would have used to $100 voucher, not the $200.

You have to hover over it and it pops up.

Hey ok my bad I guess.
Well… I have to say, I love Character Studio product, I think it’s a great app that is overlooked by a lot of studios, in profit of in-house artists and / or meta human.

But the whole marketing around it is always border line shady. Or at least, it’s not the first time that I’m slightly feeling that I’m being scammed.
I can’t tell how much this is playing in the adoption of the software, but IMHO that’s a bad strategy.

Well anyway, thank you for the info, guys.
An easy win like that should have made me cautious :stuck_out_tongue:
Dear Reallusion, I’m sorry, but I won’t buy anything.

We’ve all been there, but remember, RL is a small company. Use their strengths to your benefit. CC is an incredible character creator and you can use pretty much any clothing (Fab is your friend) to create wardrobes, not to mention hair. A lot of my clothing assets came from buying characters on Fab/UE marketplace on sale and importing them to CC3/4/5 (I have all 3).

Here: CyberEyes_03 Chrome_B_Blue 02

Have some CyberEyes, Choom. These aren’t ready for the marketplace yet, but getting close. Won’t make up for you not getting the hair you wanted, but will make you feel better. o7

Yey yep, I know the ecosystem quite well, and very familiar with Fab, more than you would think.
I think CC is a great app, and I managed to do things with it that I wouldn’t have been able to do otherwise.
I also know what it’s like working for a small company in tech. I also know how often devs feels like marketing / sales are getting a tad too far on pushing this kind of things.
But I guess that’s why I’m a dev and not a marketing / sales person… I wouldn’t sell much

They always construct these discounts that they are not really discounts. At least not for spontaneous purchases.

You basically need to play the long game and build a wishlist for assets you like and try to get most of it during a big sale. I think at least once a year you’ll usually get a good price of something you want (like 50% off or more). Hair Builder 3 was available for $75 in the past.

At certain occasions there will also be (sometimes time limited) bundles which will give you a very good discount of stuff that was released years ago.

Technically, the $200 coupon is a 50% off coupon for a $400 purchase. So, if you are able to get something for $400, that would be an acceptable discount in my opinion. Of course, this doesn’t help you if you don’t want to spend the additional $200. Maybe if you had something additional on your wishlist for a very long time, this would be a good time to get it.

THIS. I made the foray into RL products during the Plandemic. I got 4k worth of software for less than 2k Still use 3DXchange on the regular for super-fast quick and dirty animation retargets. I even dumped my Motionbuilder sub, as I didn’t need it anymore, since 3DXchange was infinitely faster. While I’m all for the integration, RL should have kept that asset going. It was choice software.

It is unfortunate indeed that 3DXchange could not have been brought up-to-date and made 64-bit. (There was a technical reason for it but I forgot). I also still have it installed. The “integration” is kind of confusing because now Character Creator does more than just creating characters.

3DXchange can still re-target to different skeletons, meaning you can use it for non-RL rigs. Both iC/CC and Actor Core retarget to the RL skeleton. Biggest mistake RL made was not allowing export to different skeletons.
