Horus: Hathor´s Awakening

Hello everyone,

Here is the second part of my story about Noah, the adventurer, and his ship, the Adeline. Once again, I tried out some new effects and wove them into a narrative.

The characters were modified in Character Creator, animated in iClone, and successfully integrated into Blender using the Blender Pipeline. Some rework was required (sculpting and adjusting the animations in Blender), and I also created some of the compositing in Blender. The whole thing was edited in DaVinci Resolve.

Developing the landscapes, cities, and props, as well as adjusting assets (DAZ, Reallusion, and Blender), took quite a bit of time.

Rendering took the longest. Depending on the effect, each frame took between 30 seconds and 2.75 minutes.

I hope you enjoy watching the short film.

Yours, Thorsten

Hallo allesamt,

Euer Thorsten

As I said on YouTube:

That was a beautiful production! Visually, it was stunning. Music was great, and the sound design was mostly great (maybe could have had a little more work there in some shots). I love the stylized characters you used, and the ships and scenery were top notch. Only one thing really bothered me (and only slightly) and that was the timing. It could have been a bit “tighter”. Some shots lingered too long (like when people are walking) and would have benefitted by some cutting them a little more. But even so, for a 9 minute film, I was surprised when it ended so quickly! So I guess I was invested in the story enough. Bravo! Loved it!

Keep up the great work!

Hello BiggsTrek,

Thank you for your kind comment. I agree with you that you can cut a little faster in certain scenes, especially in the 1970s and 80s, which had a big impact on me. Compared to today’s 1-3 second cut sequences, things were a bit more leisurely. I tend to prefer slower cut sequences overall. Since I’m a bit older ( ), I tend to gravitate more towards films from the 70s and 80s. Compared to the short cut sequences common today, everything was a bit calmer. Nevertheless, the scissors can be used in certain places (and I’ve already left a lot of footage unused). But thank you very much for your comments, as they’re the only way I have the opportunity to make changes.
Best regards,
Thorsten
