Being able to merge the two possibilities would be the most awesome thing to do! It’s really frustrating as it’s done right now, it’s difficult to really nail the likeness of someone without both scan and pictures.
Adding 3/4 left and right references could be very useful too.
Last thing but I feel that would be really really an big improvement, would be the ability to ad in the mesh sculpt tool a project tool.
I explain why:
As I couldn’t load a front face reference after generating the mesh from the scan workflow, I made the scan visible again and resized it just a millimetre or less on top of the CC4 generated mesh, and then I pulled back n forth with the sculpt tool to correct the small details of the CC4 mesh clone, having also added subdivision to it before hand to be able to do this refinement.
And that worked quite well!
But it was kind of a missed opportunity to not have the Projection tool to be able to project the CC4 mesh to get those fine details from the scan, then apply the smooth tool where it’s need.
THAT Projection tool used in this way would be just incredible!
Plus this tool already exists at the Headshot generating stage in the scan workflow, it’s just that we need this tool afterward with really smaller size and possibilities.
Those tiny update feels easy to add and would made CC4 way better for digital doubles. It would help avoid needing ZBRush really.
And if ever you’ll work on this, maybe find a way so we can import other face scan with expressions and project with this tool, and that would be it!
And a very very last thing, but probably this would take way more work for the Reallussion team to implement, so for another update later:
Photos are also needed for adjusting fine details in textures, for example putting a photo of the face over the CC4 generated mesh, and having a tool to transfer the color of the photo onto the CC4 texture, like to add a mole or something, like in the way Mari can do, but directly doing this inside of CC4 with a simple “Transfer image to texture” tool would be very very cool.
Like correcting the textures maps manually like in this video:
And that could also be useful to guide the “drawing” onto the Bump/displacement map for tiny wrinkles,
Like in this one:
I sincerely pray for those addition asap cause those would save up sooooo much time and would help the community to really nails hyper realistic Digital Double, which as of now make us using way to much software to complement CC4 for tiny but important workflow limitations like those I’ve talked here…
Thanks for reading me!
And thanks for making CC4 and IClone as useful and powerful with every new update. You’re getting closer to perfection every time!
Have a great day!
