Has Anyone Tried Using DaVinci Resolve for Visual Effects in Cartoon Animator 5?

I’ve used After Effects a few times to add visual effects to animations created in Cartoon Animator 5, but I’m wondering how I could achieve similar results using DaVinci Resolve instead.

There are plenty of beginner-level DaVinci Resolve tutorials on Udemy, but I’d like to explore more advanced techniques for adding visual effects to animation. Does anyone know of creators who are already experimenting with this kind of workflow?

I’m interested in animating illustrations in Cartoon Animator 5 that have a style similar to the work of A. Merica, a Japanese illustrator and animator.

3D animation is also becoming more accessible with the help of AI, and Reallusion seems to be focusing heavily on 3D as well. However, I’d like to take a different approach and really explore what makes 2D animation unique, rather than going in the 3D direction.

I mainly use Filmora for my Cartoon Animator 5 editing pipeline, so I think DaVinci Resolve could work just fine.

I really wish we had any news or anything about their 2D stuff. I’ve been waiting for over a year, and nothing.

I would like to learn how to create anime compositing of this style.
While After Effects is primarily used for this in Japan, I want to learn how to achieve the same results using DaVinci Resolve.

I skimmed the video, and it seems like there are a lot of glitching, cube, and flickering effects, and many editors can do that.
After Effects offers more control over those effects, of course, but I know Filmora can produce similar results—though you need a subscription after paying for it to access the better effects, so that’s probably not a good idea.
I have no idea if those effects are in DaVinci Resolve. Sorry.
