First full body mocap test using Quickmagic and Accuface

I’m planning on producing several animated shorts over the next few years and finally got around to figuring out a full mocap workflow for times when I need specific body motion and facial mocap.

I went with Accuface since I can capture the face video easily on a GoPro and then select and sync my clips later. Also, how it works with AccuLIPS is really great. I don’t disable the mouth and jaw when using AccuLIPS but instead I tend to just tone down the jaw and mouth motion from Accuface and then let let AccuLIPS add some more precise visemes on top.

I’m using QuickMagic for the body mocap. It’s easily the best deal for pretty good body mocap right now.

Still experimenting but happy with this first test.

That’s pretty impressive–the body capture looks clean and fluid. Did it require much cleanup?

Thanks! There was a bit of jitter in the mocap, but I just selected all the bones in the curve editor and did the smooth refinement around 20 or so. Took just a minute and really smoothed it out. I did have to bring the shoulders down some too since mocap likes to raise the shoulders some for some reason but that was really all i did. Took maybe 10 minutes.

Yes, sounds about like what I always need to do for my mocap. I have an Optitrack system that works pretty well, but it would be nice not to have to don the spandex reflector-ball suit! LOL What does “50 coins” get you? The QuickMagic site isn’t really clear.

Yeah, Quickmagic doesn’t have the most intuitive site, but their tech is solid. 1 vcoin equals 1 second. So 50 vcoins gets you 50 seconds of mocap. I did their yearly pro which is 12,000 V coins for $200. Thats 200 minutes or around 3 hours and 20 minutes of mocap time which is more than enough. It’s the best deal I’ve been able to find with these online mocap sites. Move.ai may have a bit better mocap quality but are much more expensive. The rest I looked at were pretty janky.

You’re very animated and have a good natural way about you which in turn provides wonderful results, brilliant test… maybe a few more close ups and not the distance zoom and moves.

Well done.
