Development Roadmap

It’s been 3 years since CTA 5 was released, and I’m curious if there is a roadmap for any future development in CTA? With AI taking off, I cannot help but wonder if Reallusion will i9ncorporate an AI in their future applications…

How would you like to see AI incorporated into CTA?

I personally would like to see
a 2D version of Accurig for CTA

I have photoshop and Adobe illustrator
and the vector magic desktop software for converting bitmap images to vector etc

But that strict folder hierarchy process is a bit tedious.

wether AI assisted or not I would love to just be able to place some Joint locations on my Character 2D Art file and have him autorigged for CTA the way we do it so easily with 3D meshes and Accurig.

It’s funny, earlier versions of Cartoon Animator (when it was known as CrazyTalk Animator) had a wizard for doing that very thing,

auto rigging images/characters. It wasn’t very accurate, and was sometimes a big PITA to work with, but combine that with today’s AI technologies, I imagine autorigging 2D characters would be a great feature.

I also would love to see AI implemented in such a way as to facilitate character creation/customization directly within the application. Something such as Character Creator is for iClone.

i wouldn’t mind seeing physics - so i can have anime characters have the wind blow in their hair, and the kung fu guys have their belts intimidatingly flap in the wind. - and one of those vector tools would work great here too for motion graphics and ux designers - this tutorial shows how affinity does it, and the animation he does in the process is awesome, but affinity is not an animation tool so there’s that lol - you could also do this duplicate process like the grass in iclone - instanced so it doesn’t eat up memory

We have pretty close to that now but no actual wind effects though.

ya, that feature is great - but you’d need to keep the character moving to have stuff moving with it - so it’s more like a game render than a movie render where the characters can’t stand still for a dramatic moment vs someone staring into the sunset and everything flapping around them including trees and leaves blowing. I imagine it should be easy enough tho to transfer a few features iclone already has to cta 5 - that would really amp up the 2D game.

Yes, physics would be a welcome addition, as would particles and emitters as well. I always wished to do 2d animations in a 3d environment, like grease pencil in blender. Blender is way to complicated, but iClone isnt. Real time lighting, bump mapping, physics, particles, etc…
