DataLink deaf and blind in version 5.07

I made a connection to Blender with DataLink.
I tried to:

  • Send Avatar
  • Send Pose

Both didn’t do anything.

Uninstalled Headshot 3.0: no success.
Rolled back to version 5.06: everything works like a charm! :star_struck:

Can you guys please fix this asap!
Thanks!

It works correctly in 5.07.

Did you have old versions of plugin left in Program Files/Reallusion/Character Creator 5/Bin64/OpenPlugin/ ? That can cause the link to fail.

Rolling back to 5.06 may have wiped the old versions from the OpenPlugin folder.

In either case, you should check the Script > Console Log for errors when it doesn’t work.

I’m experiencing a similar issue. I’m not sure if it’s a problem with the CC5 update or Headshot 3. Sending avatars and poses, as well as sending back modified hair or clothing meshes from Blender, works perfectly fine. However, when I modify the character body and click ‘send mesh,’ there are no changes or error messages at all in CC5.

Best thing to do would be to:

  • Un-install the Blender plugin from the Hub (if that’s how you installed it)
  • Then, check your OpenPlugin folder: Program Files/Reallusion/Character Creator 5/Bin64/OpenPlugin/
  • Delete any folders containing the name “Blender Pipeline Plugin” or “Blender-Pipeline-Plugin” or variations of.
  • Finally re-install the latest version (2.4.0)

Edit: In fact, let me check that actually works …

Ok, the version on the Hub is the wrong one (2.3.4)

The current version that works with CC5.07 is 2.4.0.

Which you can get from GitHub: https://github.com/soupday/CCiC-Blender-Pipeline-Plugin/archive/refs/tags/2.4.0.zip

Unzip that somewhere and run install.bat inside the folder.

You will also probably need the 2.4.0 version of the Blender add-on too: https://github.com/soupday/cc_blender_tools/archive/refs/tags/2_4_0.zip

I am using version 2.4.0 for both. In my case, outfits and hair are applied correctly, but the body still shows no response. I noticed that ‘Success’ is not being printed in the console log. Could there be a conflict with other mods, such as Bodyslide, that might be interfering with the body application?

Go to the Plugins > Blender Pipeline > Settings.

Make sure Delete Hidden faces is turned off.

Even though the default underwear has no hidden faces, for some reason a newly generated headshot 3 character exported with ‘delete hidden faces’, sends an invalid mesh for replace mesh and Go-CC.

A default character (in just the default underwear) exported with ‘delete hidden faces’, sends a fully working mesh.

So this could be the cause of your problem.

In general, for replace mesh to work on the body, you can’t use delete hidden faces.

Thank you for your assistance. After unchecking that option, everything is working perfectly now. I usually keep it disabled, so I’m not sure how it got checked, but I am glad the issue is resolved thanks to your help. I truly appreciate it

Hey Victor,

The amazing Blender Pipeline man himself! :star_struck:

I just installed the 2.4 version in Blender, CC5 and iClone like you said, and it all works like a charm now!
Thank you very much for pointing that out!

I indeed had the previous versions installed. I used the buttons in the hub and figured this was the most stable version because of it being there and because it is also the version on the website (Character Creator Auto Setup for Blender | Free Download)
Good to know that that is not how it works.

Thank you so much!

While we’re at it, I like to take the opportunity to compliment you and thank you for these amazing plugins. This pipeline alone makes the entire workflow twice as worthwhile. I love how it works. So effortless, and everything has been thought of. Brilliant!!
