Hi All,
I have a custom character with a custom cloak that I made. The cloth simulation works fine in Iclone but as soon as I transfer it across to Unreal it doesn’t work. Does anyone have any ideas what could cause this?
Many thanks in advance,
Peter
I have a similar tutorial video here for your reference — this should help you achieve the cape effect you’re looking for.
Hi Crystalpan,
Sorry for the very late reply and thank you for your link, that was very much appreciated. I figured out what the issue was, it was an issue with a couple of polys that was causing the import to fail loading the relevant cloth sim information. I’ve now fixed that.
However you may be able to tell why my cloth seems to jump erratically when the character performs certain motions in Iclone and Character Creator. The cloth does something similar to how it behaves when starting an animation or looping. But it seems to be doing it mid way through an animation, like if’s getting trapped between collisions and getting pushed out with force, almost like a gust of wind has hit it.
It’s not present in all motions. For example the male walk cycle seems fine. But if I try out the arm motions I get a repeating ‘gust’ about midway through those actions.
I’ve tried playing around with the different cloth settings but they just effect the stiffness to the cloth, so I’m assuming it’s an underlying issue.
Any ideas?
Many thanks again,
Peter
