CC5 Dependency

I have a friend who studies CAD design, but the school he attends uses Reallusion software. I asked him to create a children’s character for me because I want to make an animated story for my nephews. He created the character, but the problem is that when I try to open it in iClone, it requires me to have CC5 installed. Why do I need CC5? I only have iClone. Isn’t there a way to export the character complete with its textures and everything else it needs, and have it work like any other character without requiring me to have CC5? Why this dependency? Does anyone know how to do this? He knows CAD, but not so much about these other types of programs. If anyone can help me, I would be very grateful.

Hi…

CC5 HD characters were introduced with the release of Character Creator 5 and are only available in that version.

At the same time iClone 8 was updated to support the new CC5 HD character type, but CC5 is required to be installed to use the HD characters in iClone 8.

Sadly, without having CC5 installed, you won’t be able to use the characters in iClone 8. However, CC3+ characters from CC4 and earlier can still be used in iClone 8.

I’m sorry I can’t bring you better news.

Hi Pete.

Thanks for your reply.

I think it’s a bit of a “trick” move on Reallusion’s part to force iClone users to buy CC5. I was very happy with iClone until now. I think I’ll reconsider other options.

Best regards,

Theoretically, you could have your friend render out some high quality images of the character he created, from the front from the side and from the rear.
you could then take those character images and
use AI to animate them in any environment.
I only have Iclone clone 7
I don’t have Iclone 8 or access to the the Camilla character.
But I made animations with her using AI
Just using images of her from the internet.

Thanks, Autodidact.

Yes, that’s what I’m going to do. I’ve asked my friend to teach me how to use Kling, Veo 3, Runway, and other platforms he usually uses to develop his ideas. You can do amazing things.

Look at the things he does without having to use any 3D software. With the advances in AI, I think 3D’s software days are numbered, for the vast majority of people.

I think Reallusion’s decision wasn’t very wise, putting so many restrictions on using avatars in iClone.

The big studios at the top end using software like Maya and Houdini will continue to thrive.
However, I’m seeing an influx of new users coming into the AI generated animation space and creating some amazing animations (both 2D and 3D) and they have never even heard of these traditional animation programs.
