I am just playing around with the Trial while waiting for the redeem code. One thing I use on my characters is physics using the soft cloth, I loaded up one of the HD characters went to the modify tab pressed activate physics. It says ’ This character contains SubD data. The body Mesh with SubD data cannot have physics enabled. Improving the details of the characters in CC5 but can’t do that anymore? Hopefully there is still a way to do it.
Because SubD level characters have three layers of mesh data that are linked together, we do not support enabling SoftCloth on SubD body meshes at this stage. Sorry about this.
I think your redeem code is already waiting for you. You just need to login to your account and finish the process here: Redeem Campaign
Oh! ok. Well with all the extra detail added in CC5 hopefully there is a way to add physics to the body for realism in animations to bring it all together. It helped a lot in my work for characters of all sizes.
To increase or lower it on different parts of the body where it makes sense, like beach scenes, everyday people with soft midsection, a big belly, someone walking calves or leg movement or just subtle movements with the skin in the arms when someone is waving.
Would see it a lot in Unreal type video game cut scenes in the face during falling / fighting scenes and wanted to achieve that. So hopefully something get’s added in some way so our character’s don’t look static and made of hard plastic in animation.
I didn’t realise you could do that with the skin up until now.
I also would love to see the option of a bit of skin/fat movement on limbs, stomach, glutes etc to make it look more realistic.
You can download sample weight maps for body parts from here: https://marketplace.reallusion.com/camilia-soft-body-physics
And then customize them to your needs. But evidently, it’s only going to work on regular CC3+ (even traditionally subdivided) characters without CC5 SubD.
The only problem is cloth. It needs to be simulated outside of iClone (like Marvelous Designer) as it’s hardly possible to synchronize body and cloth physics in iClone.
This one was synced in MD ![]()
You can actually rig clothing as facial hair, and it will follow physics jiggles. You just need to set a custom facial hair vertex assignment for the body region instead of the facial region preset. Might be fun to play with.
Still not perfect, as you cannot rig a skirt properly as facial hair.
That’s the whole point - to conform mid and lower body sections ![]()
I’ve been actually playing with it a lot in the past and I was sticking with Hair (Base/All). It works whole lot better than facial hair when it comes to covering some body parts (like I did for Batman character). It does NOT work for arms and lower legs though, but for underwear and for some types of skirt it might work well.
Here is how:
Yet I still prefer MD as it creates whole lot better sims and there is no need to worry about cloth physics in general.
Same animation as referenced in the other post but with dress:
Morph Creator is also not compatible with CC5 HD SubD characters in I clone 8 anymore either. I have monster, alien characters that transform in a sci-fi animation project and some had a blob type jiggle to them. Was hoping to be able to make them look even more real with CC5 but no. Have to use Blender or something else.
