I bought CC4 a few weeks ago to make a character for my unreal engine game. But I’ve spent the last few weeks in complete frustration; I’ve tried hundreds of combinations of settings on the export and auto-setup plugin for UE5.4, and have never been able to get even a single character to import acceptably.
The “Best Practices” page claims that this should all be automatic and “just work” in 5.4. It doesn’t. Even if I follow the supposedly unnecessary steps for 5.3, I get dresses that flap around like a flag in gale-force winds, passing entirely through the character front to back like there were no collisions at all.
I’ve tried painting weights, modifying collisions, using (and not using) the generated physics assets, subdividing, every combination imaginable of settings in both the output and the auto-setup side of to try and get this “automatic” import to work.
(That’s not a loincloth, it’s a full-length black dress that looks fine in the animations on the CC4 side. It’s a frame from a video clip just after the character has stopped running forward.).
Does anybody have a battle-tested process for actually getting a character in one of the built-in dress/skirt templates to actually import to UE5.4 with reasonable clothing physics, no poke-through, and all of the character’s limbs still present? (Delete Hidden Faces removes faces that are decidedly not hidden.)
