CA5 - Content Manager Folder & File Re-Organisation?

I want to reorganise the folders and files in the ‘Content Manager’ Template - Item tab. Specifically, to remove some of the sub-folders and rename some of the files to make it easier to find content.

If I remove a subfolder in the C-Drive “Reallusion Templates,” the software doesn’t recognise the change.

For example, I removed the “GarryPye” and “Freebees” subfolders and placed the files in the main Scene folder. However, the content manager still sees subfolders that don’t exist on the C-Drive and can locate the files, even though they have been moved.

If I change a file’s name, for example, from “SCC metro” to “Street 02” on the C-Drive to make it more useful in the search, the content manager still shows the file as " SCC metro."

The process I have used to attempt to do this:

In the Content Manager Area
Select the down arrow Menu
Sync Installed Assets - Enable Smart Scanning

What else do I need to do?
Is what I am attempting to do, in removing folders and changing file names, possible?

With Thanks

Hi…

To avoid problems with losing access to content, it is strongly advised you don’t rename or re-organise the Template folder. This is why Content Manager doesn’t allow changing or adding folders within CTA5. However, you can do this with the Custom folder.

For Cartoon Animator to find the content you installed, it needs to still be in the location set when you installed the content. This information is then saved in the Content Manager database. If you later manually change anything using Windows File Explorer these changes won’t be updated in the database which will sadly result in errors.

Thanks for the explanation. Helpful.
