CA5.33 Content Disappearing

Starting CA, all the Content is gone… fiddling, re-loading, opening projects, it re-appeared just to be gone again the next time. Any ideas please?
The folders all indicate the content codes and “was not found.”

Hi…

When you install CTA5 you are given option to choose folder locations for the Template content and your own Custom content. Once these folders are created it is important that the folders and not moved or renamed as it can lead to problems with missing content.

Another issue can occur when the content is installed on external drives that are not always present leading CTA5 to think the content is missing.

One thing to check first is that the content is actually present in the content folders. To check this, open CTA5 and then click on Settings in Content Manager and this will display where the content is installed. You can use Windows Explorer to navigate to these folders to check the content files are actually installed.

Problem solved: The Search function had some odd characters in it and it stayed there even when the program is re-started. It therefore indicated that it did not find a match, and therefore shows no content.

Great to hear you have resolved the problem. Thanks for letting us know.

I am having the same issue.
My content is not on an external hard drive and i have made no changes to my original installation.

Hi…

Have you checked that there is nothing entered in the Content Manager Search box as the OP found was the issue for him?

If that is not the issue, then do check that the content files are still installed even when they appear missing in Content Manager. I described how to do this in my earlier reply. This will help identify if the issue is with your Content Manager database or if the issue is with actual data loss on your hard drive.

i don’t know what that means. and i’m not sure that would solve anything if the items are showing up gray, even if erroneously in the content area?
on my machine and grayed out may as well be absent.
