Bright face

I’m using CC4 and I’m testing out the facial animation stuff for the first time. The character needed to be a bit darker than the default, so I changed it by right-clicking the Base Color in the Texture Settings, and clicking “Adjust Color.” Am I correct in assuming that my change did not propagate to the maps in the morph targets? His face becomes super bright (compared to the rest of him) when I make him smile. Is there a way around this?
