I am sharing a short video showcasing our workflow from motion capture to 3D animation. Clara is a CC5 avatar designed to present Brazilian Sign Language content captured with a Vicon system and Faceware helmet, processed and combined within Accuface and iClone8.

Interesting project. A long time ago (around 2002) I worked on an (unfinished) PhD project to create a translation system from English into American Sign Language. The idea was to translate the close captions from TV programs into ASL in real-time. Unfortunately, I was unable to complete my project.
This was before digital television so that would have had to be done with fairly limited bandwidth. I did this in cooperation with a company that has since abandoned their ASL work.
I still think this is a worthy endeavor and with today’s technology this could be realized much more effectively.
BTW, are you aware that the acronym TAAL means “language” in Dutch?
