Are we being forced to upgrade to CC5?

Yesterday, I spent several hours creating a character (CC 4.66); I was not finished with it, so I saved it as a ccProject, so I could come back to it today. When I tried to open it this morning, I got this message:

“Failed to load the content containing CC5 enhanced data. This file requires CC5 to be installed.”

Please understand that CC5 has not been installed on my machine, so (I thought) by using CC4, I was using things that are compatible with CC4. Apparently, there are now CC5 features (I have no idea what they are) in CC4, that, if used, automatically keeps you from reopening your project in CC4. There was no warning AT ALL to the effect of “This feature is an exclusive CC5 feature; using it will make the file only compatible with CC5.” So, since I can’t open the file, I don’t even have any idea what I used that would make it incompatible with CC4.

The bottom line is that this makes CC4 useless, because you don’t ever know if what you are using will make the file unusable.

I do hope that this is a just a bug that can be fixed, and not some underhanded way to force CC4 into obsolescence. If the latter is the case, that is a horrible way for Reallusion to treat its customers.

What can we do to fix this?

Thanks,
Terry Miller

Installed RAM: 64.0 GB (63.2 GB usable)

This sounds like a bug to me as well. Maybe there was an incorrect version number saved in your project file.

Hi, Terry_Miller

This shouldn’t happen, unless the character contains data from CC5 or later. Could you please submit a TS and provide the file so we can investigate further?
