Anyone into Mandelbulb3D?

I wouldnt know where else to ask. I am currently experimenting alittle with Mandelbulb3D. There is one issue i cant solve which are black pixels in the images no matter how high i render it resolutionwise. This is part of a 4k render. Anyone knows how to get rid of those black pixels ? They ruin almost every image created with that software :frowning:

I’ve used it before, very cool software, but can also be intense on hardware

so the first place i’d troubleshoot is any new technologies that were added to your video card since that date that mandebulb may not be compatible with - you could probably do a permanent fix in the video card profiles to disable x features when using the mandebulb program.

The rays might be overstepping the boundaries of the fractal. Try lowering the Raystep size.

I ended up in the ray settings but no matter what i try i cant get rid of those dots. I notice a change when using different settings, but they are always there. One way i could think of was to render a 8 oder 16k image and scale that down. But that would take beetween 5 and 20 hours to render … just for a test …

What are your settings? I’m pretty sure it’s a problem in your settings.

I think rendering in 4k or higher is total overkill. I would rather render a picture at a sub HD resolution and scale it up afterwards with Gigapixel or a similar app. With a video upscaler like VideoAI you can also interpolate the frames to make the video smoother, in case you want to render a video.

With this you can save nearly 94% render time by upscaling the image 4x (saves 75%render time per image) and interpolating the frames 4x (will save additional 75%).

There are also free alternatives in case you don’t want to buy Topaz software.

I changed all the corresponding ray values up and down , used different combinations, but like said with only a little change. Scaling is out of question because i need that sharpness on the egdes. I need to render at 4k minimum. because i make a mesh from it and want to zoom in. you can imagine when making a terrain for example how difficult that is sharpness weise.
BTW those pixels do not appear on evrery fratcal type , perhaps its part of the formular itself ?

EDIT:
I just rendered a few other formulas in “high” calculation mode, it appears that those dots only depend on the formula…
