Hello, I just noticed that many of the animation packs do not have transitions from idle. Am I correct in seeing this? If so, is there a way around it?
Why would they have transitions from idle? “Idle” is usually a separate clip.
As far as I can tell, the point is to add several of these clips together and edit the transitions yourself (i.e. align character position/orientation) and have iClone create a transition between the clips (by crossfading between the clips).
If every motion clip started from idle, you would have to edit out the “idle” part if you want to edit different clips together.
Of course, for games it might be different. I wouldn’t know since I neither create nor play computer games.
I work in Unreal 5.3, specifically in game production, so iClone is alien to me. But yeah, I needed transitions because of how the characters change states.
Well, the motion clips that Reallusion offers (via ActorCore, the Content Store or the Marketplace) are primarily meant to be used in or with iClone. Their use in other applications, including game engines, is probably a secondary consideration. As I said before, I don’t care for games so I wouldn’t know for sure, but I would assume that there are marketplaces which offer motion clips that are more geared towards the needs of game developers.
That being said, if you really want to use motions from ActorCore, you could perhaps get iClone as an “editor” to adjust them to your needs if that can’t be done in the game engine of your choice.
