I realized that if I try to use a custom pose as the starting point, or if I create a pose with AccuPOSE then modify something in Edit Motion Layer and then again go back to AccuPOSE, the character will “snap” to a different pose whenever I touch any AccuPOSE control. Even if I just click on Compute or Apply Model, the same thing happens.
I don’t know if it’s supposed to work like that or is there a way I can “bake” the custom pose as the starting point. But ideally what I would want is to use my custom pose as the starting point and for AccuPOSE to work from there, without snapping the character to a different pose.
Is this possible?
Hi…
Using AccuPose should not reset any custom poses you have added (unless you apply them at the same frame number.
So for example setting a custom pose with Edit Motion Layer at frame 1 and then applying an AccuPose pose at frame 50 will not affect the custom pose and it will simply transition the animation between the two poses.
If you haven’t already, I would advise watching the tutorial below. This shows how you can combine AccuPose with poses you have keyframed using Edit Motion Layer.

Hey Pete,
Thank you for your response.
My problem was that I wanted to apply it on the same frame number. I think the expression “starting point” that I used might have been misleading.
What I meant is that if it’s possible to set a starting pose for example with edit motion layer and then use accupose on the same frame without it snapping the character to a different position.
But I think I understand it now that it’s not really possible. If I got it right, accupose should be used as the first step and it’s not possible to go back to it after I used other types of modifications, right?
(I mean I can go back to it but if I want to use it to modify existing keyframes or animation clips, it will snap it)
