If I export a character from Character Creator, import it into Max with the CC Auto Setup, and apply an ActorCore animation to it (via FBX import), everything works fine.
If I export a character from Character Creator, import it into Max, and rig it with a CAT rig using the CC Auto Setup, everything works fine.
BUT if I try to apply an ActorCore animation to that CAT rig (with Max’s Capture Animation tool) I get some serious problems in the arms.
And yes, I am using the CAT Rig Mapping file you provided, and followed the tutorial.
The clavicle is all weird and somehow the hands of the imported bones are offset from the CAT rig.
I’m trying to attach screenshots of what is happening, but I’m being told that I can’t embed media files here, even though there’s a button for doing so. I’ve tested it on a straight export of CC’s Kevin model, so it should be reproducible by anyone.
Oh, and the animation I am testing this with is “walk_normal_m.fbx”
Sorry to hear you are having problems with your ActorCore motions.
To get this investigated, please can you report it in the Feedback Tracker and one of our team will look at the issue to see what the problem is.
Tip: For a quicker response to the issue, please can you capture a screen recording video showing the steps you take leading up to the issue occurring, and provide a link to this video for FT team.
Of course if the issue is very urgent you can also contact our Technical Support department and they will try to help.
I’m a newbie to Actorcore and could use some (OK, A LOT) of help. I’m replying to this post because my issues with Actorcore motions may be related to what @geoffkornfeld3d is experiencing.
I am using 3Ds Max 2023 and Actorcore motions would really make my life easier. I find that
My most frustrating problem is when loading the xat file of the saved animations, a dialog box pops up: “No Tracks Are Mapped Create Map File?” Clicking “yes” leads you to a dialog screen that makes you cry.
Has anyone else experienced this? Am I missing a step? is there a workaround? Also:
The tutorial that everyone references is helpful but does not even hint at any of the tweaks you have to make to get the CAT rig to acknowledge the motion rig. And even tho it finally works, the Actorcore rig rarely sizes properly to the CAT rig. Is this due to my settings or the rigging which seems to be vintage 2021?
When the fbx motion rig is imported into 3DS Max 2023, it does not look like the bones that you see in the tut. In fact, you have to bring it in as dummy vs bones to see it at all. It would be helpful if the tut mentioned that.
Sometimes the mapping file works and sometimes it doesn’t. Does anyone know why this is so? Mostly I have to close and reopen Max entirely to get the mapping to work. Sometimes that doesn’t work.
Clearing the mapping does not clear the connection between the Rootbone and the CAT rig pelvis. So it’s hard to just start over again.
I’ve tested this with several animations (walking, dancing, climbing stairs) with the same results.
